Oh, it's sleep regression again!

Oh my goodness, I feel so relieved right now. This past week I've just been feeling like the world's worst mother. I can't even put my baby to sleep! It has been completely stressing me out and making me super crazy ( which then makes Scott crazy). I keep wondering, "What am I doing wrong?" Well, as I was laying there tonight, crying, trying to get my son to sleep for 2 hours, as he was screaming and kicking one minute and then crawling on me, giving me wet, slobbery, open mouth kisses the next, not wanting to sleep, it hit me...sleep regression. He has completely regressed, taking big steps backward on the sleep thing. When he finally went to sleep, I looked it up on the internet. He is taking these backward steps in sleeping because he has so many things happening, all those milestones he has reached has his brain firing away. He just wants to practice crawling all the time...even while I'm nursing, he is wriggling his body, just wanting to move! On top of all of that, he is teething too. One tooth broke through and another one will any day now. From what I read, this is completely normal and Scott and I will get through this! There is a light at the end of the tunnel.
It is always reassuring to know that I am not the only mom going through this right now, that there are other babies out there that don't sleep through the night and are hard to get to sleep. Sometimes I feel like Kekoa is the only baby that isn't a great sleeper. At least now I know the reason for this drastic change in his behavior.

I read this while researching sleep regression and LOVED it, pretty much sums up how I feel right now: "...wondering how I'd morphed from awesome to completely incompetent in a matter of weeks. Parenting is hard."

I just have to keep telling myself, "This too shall pass."

  1. so glad you figured out whats going on....I know this is SO hard, but remember that you are a GREAT mommy to Kekoa...this is just a small little bump that will pass! And, for the record, no worries...Kekoa is NOT the only baby out there thats a bad sleeper...we have one right here:)
