Kekoa blows me away everyday with how smart he is, but today he took it to another level. I just have to write this down so I don't forget. We visited a new park today and there was a white Douglas Fir, the kind of tree we chopped down for our Christmas tree. Kekoa saw the tree and said, "baba chie su" (baba cuts down the tree). I was shocked that he would remember. I asked him if he remembered having a Christmas tree and he replied "su home", (the tree was at home). I can't believe he remembers something from so long ago...so impressed.
Seems like he has an elephant memory!

Rainy day in June?
Yes, it was freezing cold and raining today. Well, maybe not freezing, but it was chilly. It matched my mood, gray and gloomy. What did we do on this cold Tuesday? We had many dance parties, rocking out to Madonna, Kekoa's new favorite artist. We played blocks, cars, trains, stuffed animals. We read so many books and snuggled. We all had cabin fever and really wanted to get out. My car was in the shop, getting new tires so we had no way to leave, we were stuck.
Kekoa pulled his toys around, his new favorite thing to do. He likes to watch them as they follow. We also have a cute spider that makes him laugh so hard.

We played ukulele! Kekoa is completely entranced and wanted some lessons himself.

Finally my car was done and we headed out to downtown for some dinner. It felt so good to be outside. Kekoa dug through the basket of shoes to find his "boots", which he had to wear so he could splash in the puddles. When I asked him what his favorite part of the day was, I expected him to tell me about splashing in the puddles, but he said "eat". He liked going out to eat together. So sweet.

train with Baba
This morning Scott and Kekoa went to the park and gave me some time at home. They rode the train and the merry-go-round. I'm so happy they were able to ride the train. It wasn't the steam engine, so Kekoa wasn't afraid...he refuses to ride when it is the steam engine!
Kekoa couldn't wait to get in the front door when they came home to tell me all about it.

peach pop
Today after dinner, I asked Kekoa if he would like a treat. We could go sit on the porch and eat a peach pop. He replied, "Mmmm, hmmm". We were sitting on the porch and then Kekoa decided he would like to sit in the chair! He was so adorable and watching him try to eat this peach pop is the funniest thing. He can't get over how cold it is and takes tiny little licks. When I handed it to him, he grabbed the peach pop and said "coldie"....so cute!
After a couple of licks, he was done....I guess it was too "coldie" to eat any of it. :)

It's "coldie"!

Fun with the choo choo
The train table has been one of the best purchases for Kekoa. He still has so much fun with it. Today he thought it would be fun to take the tracks, lay them on the floor, and put them together. It is the first time he's really been interested in building a track and taking it apart. This brought hours of entertainment, seriously. He sat for over an hour, keeping himself occupied!
(Kekoa likes not wearing his pamper and it works out great for potty training. He'll run to the bathroom and say "pee pee potty" when he has to go!)

I actually took this yesterday. Kekoa was cracking me up with his sound effects while playing. He is saying "this one", in Chinese, over and over.

Good morning Freddy
Kekoa was all smiles this morning when we walked into his room and he saw his beloved Freddy sitting on the ground waiting for him. Don't worry, he has not forgotten about Paulie, in fact the two are good friends! :)
I heard Kekoa fussing when I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth. When I came out to investigate, Kekoa was trying to drag Freddy out of his room into the living room...this isn't an easy task! I asked him if he would like some help. Kekoa replied, "Mmmm, hmmm", so we both dragged Freddy out so they could "play" together.

Oh no, "I slipped". ( Kekoa thinks it is very fun to slip down Freddy and then jump on his stomach. This can get dangerous since Kekoa is so small, he bounces off Freddy and launches himself pretty far.)

Love bug
Kekoa is such a love, my little "love buggy". Today we had an extra special love day. Kekoa was just so momtastic, wanting tons of snuggles and smooches. One of his many nicknames is "love bug". I'll ask him if he is mama's love bug. He'll say, "mmmm hmmm". Today he said for the first time, "Ke ke mama love bug" over and over again. It was so cute.
This afternoon we went to see the train. Kekoa is still freaked out by the steam engine so we admire the train from afar. We rode the bike over to the park and when Kekoa saw the train, he wanted me to take him out and hold him (which I did). At dinner time when I asked him what his favorite part of the day was, he said "mama bao bao ke ke kan choo choo" translation: When mama held Kekoa to watch the train. Of course I melted. I asked him again later, when we were putting on his pj's what his favorite part of the day was and he said the same thing. So sweet.
As my friend Raquel says, Kekoa and I are still in a a "love cocoon"...Kekoa is all about his mama and still wants all kinds of love. I am not taking any of it for granted because it will change before I know it.

Meet Freddy
The newest member of the Hanson clan is this HUMUNGOUS teddy bear, Freddy. We got him today at Costco and Kekoa is over the moon. He was so in love with the teddy bear that Cole had in Davis, that we couldn't resist getting him one of his own. Freddy sat right next to Kekoa on the car ride home, we tried to put a seat belt around him but he's too big. Kekoa couldn't wait to take a nap with Freddy too, he takes up almost the whole bed, there is just enough room for Kekoa and either me or Scott. We all couldn't be happier with the newest Hanson and love him a lot, all 53 inches of teddy bear! :)

I love Kekoa's little hand in his pocket.

Belated Father's Day BBQ
Today we headed to Fremont for a belated Father's day celebration. Kekoa was SO excited to go to Fremont and see "Kaiwei (no more ka ka), Pop pop, Mackie and ayi (Jenny)". It is the cutest because Kekoa class Jiawei, "baby Mackie". He also started saying "Kaiwei", instead of "ka ka". Pretty exciting.
We had a really fun day, relaxing, playing, bike riding, BBQing, and of course eating. Scott makes the best BBQ, we are all so lucky. He made the best grilled teriyaki chicken and salmon. Dessert was so yummy too, vanilla cake and ice cream. Kaiwei was most excited about the ice cream. He walked over to the store with me to pick it out and couldn't stop talking about it for the rest of the day!
Putting on shoes to go for a bike ride! We rode over to the park so the boys could play.

Picking out sand toys for the park. This is Kekoa's posed face.

Ready to go!
Don't these two look so adorable in the back of the bike trailer? Kekoa was super excited to ride next to Kaiwei.

A stop at the park for some sandbox time!

The two baba's relaxing in the grass.
