He did great in the car. We had a pit stop in Davis..ate lunch and stretched our legs. Then it was back into the car to head into the mountains. Kekoa took a very short nap on this leg of the trip. We were both hoping he would end up sleeping the rest of the way up to Tahoe, but no such luck. When he woke up, he saw snow for the first time. It was the cutest thing, he couldn't stop staring at it and saying "snow". He was completely mesmerized. We will definitely have to come back this winter. Scott and I were actually mesmerized too...there was SO much snow, it was unbelievable.
This picture, taken from the car, really doesn't do any justice to how beautiful the snow was and how much of it there was....but it's the best we could do!
We arrived in Tahoe at around 4:00. It was so wonderful to get out and walk around. We were so lucky because we got to stay at one of the cabins where the reception was. There were 3 "cabins" on the same lot and a perfect area for the reception. There was snow on the ground too! Crazy! Friday night was a feast of Mexican food...homemade beef and turkey tamales, rice, black beans, refried beans, cheesy enchiladas, and soft tacos. We ate so much but still had room for dessert...buttery Mexican wedding cookies, chewy molasses cookies and Scott's favorite, chocolate chip. I had to turn in early to put Kekoa down to sleep. He was having so much fun, playing with all kinds of different people, that he started having major meltdowns (not enough time napping).
Kekoa loves staying in new places. He couldn't wait to explore the inside of the cabin.

Getting a little run, around the kitchen table of course!

I love this little pose, so cute.

Making snowballs with baba.
Throwing snowballs at mama in late June.
One of Eric's friends made this. I thought it was very sweet.
Getting and early start on dancing.

Kekoa melt down. He does not want to go take a bath and get to bed!

Our cabin...right across the way from where the reception was.
The next day was the wedding. We took Kekoa to a park and to walk along the Truckee river. Our plan was to tire him out so he would take an early nap. Mission accomplished! I actually couldn't believe he napped, it was SO loud in our cabin. All the guys were getting ready in there and having a great time. I thought for sure Kekoa would wake up, but he slept so hard.
He slept until around noon and then we headed up to Squaw Valley to catch the cable car up to the top. The ceremony was in the most beautiful spot, at the top of Squaw, overlooking the Valley and Lake Tahoe, with snow all around! Wow. Nicole was stunning in her dress and Eric was all tears...so overcome with emotion. It was awesome. I was crying too of course!

We found a super tiny baby worm under a rock. It was so cute, Kekoa couldn't wait to pick it up and put in on his hand.

The awesome band.

A little breezy at the top! :)

Kekoa's favorite animal for the weekend was Chewy, this little puppy dog. He carried it around everywhere. One of Nicole's took this picture of us, going down the cable car from the top of Squaw.

At the reception..
Smooches for mama. Notice Kekoa's little hand creepin' down my dress! :)

The fabulous band. All the music they played just made you want to jump up and dance!
Oh my gosh, I LOVE this BBQ! ( and Kekoa did. He ate a whole piece of chicken, scarfed it down. It was really delicious food.)
I heart Auntie Coley.

Kekoa loved being out on the dance floor. He was so cute, dancing the night away. He made everyone smile and laugh with his dance moves. They were so impressed at how well he could dance! :)

Kekoa was so smitten for Nicole's cousin...his first crush. She was playing catch with him
When she wanted to go back to dancing, he was CRUSHED, so upset. He didn't know what to do. When he calmed down a little bit, I asked him if he wanted me to walk with him back over to her and check if she wanted to play catch again. He grabbed my hand and off we went.

Before heading home on Sunday, we had to check out Lake Tahoe! It was a beautiful morning, as we stood at the edge of the lake, admiring the mountains and skipping rocks.

Look what I found!

A BIG rock!

What a fabulous weekend away. Thank you Nicole and Eric for having us...we had so much fun! :)
snow!
Kekoa having a little meltdown. At the end of the video he says "mama heps" (mama help)
