Malia is sleepy

This little girl is hilarious.  Tonight after we ate, she wanted to pretend to take a nap.  She never snuggles like this so we were all trying to get in on the action.  It is amazing how big my baby is now!!  Holding her like this brought back a rush of memories when she was so small and so much lighter.

minions

One of Kekoa's friends at school had a Minion birthday party.  Her mom is so crafty and made all the kids Minion hats and Minion glasses.  Malia just wanted to wear these all through dinner tonight!

hooks are up

My man is becoming quite the handyman...it is great!
I went to The Container Store and found the perfect hooks at about half the cost of what I saw at Crate & Barrel.  We desperately need hooks to hang our jackets, one for us and one for the kids.  I also got hooks for Kekoa's room, for all his dress up clothes.  He has been anxiously waiting for them.

Thanks so much honey, the hooks are fabulous!!

That blank wall is just screaming for hooks!

Yay!

freezer is organized

My favorite blog ever is "iheartorganizing"...it is so inspirational.  It breaks down all the organizing I want to do into small steps, baby steps that I can actually handle.  I always get so overwhelmed at how much I have to organize that I end up giving up all together.

My projects this month:
1. get the freezer organized
2. finish Malia's bow holder (work in progress but almost done)
3. get hooks up on the walls (thank you Scott for finishing this)
4.  pantry (this is a big job)

Today I finished the freezer organizing.  It is now beautiful and we don't have to worry about frozen things falling onto our feet or our kids heads when the freezer door opens.  It was easy peasy too.  I cleaned out all the items that had been in there for way too long yesterday and did a quick mental inventory of what was left.  I measured our freezer to make sure the tubs would fit and basically copied the freezer from "i heart organizing".

And now voila...our organized freezer with labels and everything!  I keep opening it just to look at how beautiful it is!!  It's the little things right?

And on a side note...Let me just say that I am in love with the multi-purpose storage bins from Container Store.  The extras that I bought today, that I had planned on returning, have already come into great use and I am kicking myself for not purchasing more!

Before...what a mess.

Aaaaah, everything in it's place now!
This was the super scary area before...stuff would fall out whenever we opened the freezer.

Have no fear now!!

hurricane hunter

These three were having so much fun this morning, chasing hurricanes.  The pillows are their steering wheels and they have on their helmets, ready for actions.  I loved hearing them play as I was cooking away in the kitchen...it was music to my ears.

Belgatos park

We spent a gorgeous Sunday morning at Belgatos.  I still can't get over this sunny, warm weather.

Scott installed hooks in Kekoa's room for all his dress up clothes.  As he was hanging up his dress up outfits, he renewed his love for his knight costume.  I love that he was my little knight at the park...such a cutie.

Waiting for his buddy Milan.
These two boys had a blast, finding huge sticks, little sticks, all kinds of sticks.  They stacked them up on a picnic table and pretended it was their campfire.

she blows me away

My little girl is such a cutie pie, a little spit fire.  I love her.
Each Friday morning, we try to make it to library story time.  I'm pretty sure it is the highlight of her week.  She just loves it so much.  I couldn't believe it today, she was copying everything the librarian did.  The librarian was teaching us a bunch of words in sign language and Malia caught on so quick.  She was having a blast dancing and laughing at the stories.  It amazes me to watch her, pure entertainment.  I wish someone could have recorded the entire half hour of Malia at story time.  I am not used to having such an outgoing child.  Kekoa is so different, definitely on the more introverted side of things.  Malia just jumps right in, this girl is such a dancer!

Malia really does blow me away!

beautiful boy

Kekoa was so tuckered out from the beach today...I couldn't even wake him up when I moved him from the car to the couch.  So envious of his eye lashes!!

another fabulous winter beach day

I am really getting freaked out by this weather...I mean it was 82 degrees today when we left Santa Cruz and it is January 16th!  It is nice having all the sunshine, but we are in desperate need of some rain, I mean super desperate.

But it doesn't mean I'm not going to take advantage of all this sunshine and head to the beach on Thursday fun day!!  Kekoa nearly jumped out of his seat at breakfast when I suggested the beach and he actually cooperated by helping getting himself ready this morning (that is ALWAYS a battle).

What can I say, we are total beach bums.  Malia spent most of her time at the beach enjoying her lunch.  Kekoa had a great time playing in the sand and then we were running around, playing football while Malia watched.  On the way home, Kekoa conked out but Malia decided not to nap again...this is day #2 of no napping....that silly girl. We may have to make another beach trip this weekend.

Kekoa was pretending to be a baby whale and here he is giving mama whale a hug.

The kids having a snack after the beach...chocolate chip cookie...Malia's first time with a chocolate chip cookie, she loved it.

The kids were so hot when we left the beach...we actually all were.  They got to cruise home in their undies.  Kekoa asked me why I couldn't ride home in my undies too...hmmmm, it was so tempting, thank goodness for air conditioning.

music class with my baby girl

Malia had her second week of music class...she just loved it.  Her favorite part was when the big blue sheer piece of cloth came out and she could stand under it.

evening sillies

These two remind me so much of me and my brother and how we would just make each other giggle and laugh...such silly little kiddos.

getting herself dressed at 19 months!

Malia is already getting her own pants on.  This has been a new thing this past week, actually started a few days ago where she didn't want any help putting on her socks.  Well, let me tell you, when we are in a hurry to get out of the house, taking 50 million years to get your socks on isn't going to cut it.  She throws a complete fit if I try to help her.  I have now learned that I need to give Malia her socks and shoes about 10 minutes before we really want to leave so then she will let me help her put them on.

Last night she insisted on putting on her own diaper (you can imagine how that turned out) but actually got her pj bottoms on and today while I was out walking, Scott called me and told me Malia was putting on like 4 pairs of pants...all on at the same time, lots of layers!  I can't believe she is 19 months and already getting herself dressed...it is just crazy.  We never went through this phase with Kekoa, where he wanted to do everything himself...it's all new to us.

Monday at school

Kekoa used the block today to build an airport.  I just love how his imagination is so wild and creative.  I also love the vocabulary he uses when describing what he is doing...it seems like he uses such big words for a 4 year old.

Digging for treasure...

These two boys are the best of buds.  Caelan really brings out all the "boy" in my boy.  It is so fun to see him running around, imagination running wild.  I just love it.

Attempting to use chopsticks, which quickly became drum sticks.

I can hear Kekoa laughing

Mmmm, the rice is good

Rocket ship to the moon...

Working on a puzzle together

The sensory table is currently full of flour.  Kekoa was a little white snowball when he was done here!

Another fun Monday at school!
