BBQ at Van's

What fun we had this afternoon. We all headed over to the Rich's house for a BBQ. Kekoa and I were so excited to have Scott with us too! Kekoa and Van were really excited to see each other...Kekoa gave Van a double handed wave when he walked in the room!
It was really hilarious to watch these two playing together and then off and doing their own thing. They both did a great job sharing. I think it is just so cute at this age that kids don't care that they are naked, they just cruise with their booties all exposed, free and shameless.
It was such a nice change to be hanging out with some other adults on a Sunday afternoon, drinking wine and beer, while watching our kiddos play. Thank you guys so much! We had the best time :)

Baby sister Audrey. She is a bundle of love, so cute and cuddly. She LOVES her bouncer, goes crazy in it.

Jody says, "Van, show us your teeth." And he does! :)

Van checking out Kekoa playing with the Thomas toys.

Don't you think it would be so uncomfortable to sit on these toys naked? These boys didn't seem to mind at all!

Ummm, where is my push? Van was so cute, trying to push Kekoa. It was a little difficult in the grass.

Doing some lawn mowing in the nude!

The cutest bootie!

Eating a banana

Kekoa can finally eat a banana by himself. The other day we while we were in Trader Joe's, I gave Kekoa a banana to eat. He walked around with me, holding tight to my hand, and with the other hand, holding tight to his banana. It was the cutest thing. He is so good, doesn't run off and listens so well to directions.
Here he is at farmer's market, having a little "sit" break as he eats his banana snack.

Fountain fun

Kekoa loved playing in the fountain today with baba! He didn't even want mama to go with him, "no mama" he said to me!

Kekoa spots a "fe fe" (airplane).

I can do this

Kekoa was so determined to put on his pj's tonight. I love how much he concentrates and doesn't give up. But my poor little monkey had the cards stacked against him...he is trying to put his bottoms on over his head! He does succeed once and wears his pj bottoms around his head proudly!

Helping baba in the kitchen

Scott is off this weekend and Kekoa is in baba heaven. He is Scott's little shadow and wants to do everything that baba is doing. Scott is getting our dinner ready to BBQ, working his BBQ magic. Kekoa is learning all of Scott's trade secrets at such a young age! :)

The two of them looked so cute together in our tiny kitchen.

Mega Blocks

These mega blocks were a gift from Uncle Erik so long ago. Kekoa rediscovered them today. He was having so much fun, making the tallest tower possible. When that got old, he dumped the block out and crawled into the red container, pretending that he was taking a "baff" (bath).

"fongune"

Kekoa has invented a new word, "fongune".
Last night, after his shower, I asked him if he would like to put on lotion and his diaper on the bed or on Freddy (the huge teddy bear). He didn't really like either of those choices, so he looked at me with the cutest smile on his face and said, "ummmm, I fongune".
I said, great, you want to put on lotion fongune? I was thinking it was some made up place but Kekoa then started calling himself fongune! I couldn't stop laughing. I had him on the bed and he was screaming, "no fongune pamper, sleepy nunie" (no diaper for Kekoa, he wants to sleep in the nude)
As I was trying to put to sleep, he said, "No fongune sleep on the bed, fongune sleep with Freddy" and "mama bao bao fongune" (mama hold fongune), and "mama sleepy with fongune".

All day long today he has been calling himself fongune.
Oh my little monkey is a little comedian!

Kekoa's long sentence

"Vans no baba, change the poo poo diaper" (Van said I don't want to have my diaper changed daddy)

Kekoa couldn't stop saying this over and over again tonight, as I was trying to get him to go to sleep.
What does this exactly mean? Well, we went over to Van's house this afternoon for some fun.
As the two boys were playing trains, Van was going #2. He was making little grunting noises and when he was done, it was time to change the pamper. Van didn't want to leave all the fun and didn't leave for his pamper change without a little kicking and screaming.
So, this evening, Kekoa replayed the whole incident. Told me how Van was going poo poo (even made the same grunting noises). Told me how "Van crying" and then "Vans no baba, change the poo poo diaper" Kekoa couldn't stop telling me the story. I was trying so hard not to laugh, especially when Kekoa made the same grunting noises.
He had a great time at Van's and can't wait to go back to play!

playdate with Rosangela

This morning we headed up Overlook Road, up and up to go on a hike and play with Rosangela and her mama Caren. Only about a 10 minute drive away, up a narrow, windy road, and we were transported out of town. I used to run up this road and then when I was pregnant with Kekoa, walk up part of it. It was a good feeling to be driving up there with my little monkey to go for a hike. I like visiting places with him that I used to frequent when I was pregnant.
Rosangela is such a precious little girl. She was so excited to have us there and made sure to show me all her toys. It was so cute. At one point, we caught these two little cuties holding hands! So sweet!
It was a gorgeous morning, sunny but not too hot. The trail head is right across the way from their home, so awesome. We picked green apples off their apple tree, for a snack, and headed out. The kids munched on their apples the entire hike!
When we returned, Rosangela and Kekoa kept themselves entertained with sand and water as us mama's were able to chat. Thank you for such a wonderful morning!

Smelling flowers was a big hit on the hike! :)

bees

The strangest thing happened today while Kekoa and I were eating dinner. He said, "Oh no mama, look", as he pointed to the window. I looked over and saw so many bees, I mean hundreds and hundreds of bees swarming outside our apartment. It was the strangest thing, a little creepy. They were gathering on the ledge of our patio. I thought they were going to start building a hive and then within and hour, almost all of them had left!
Hundreds of bees make a VERY loud buzzing noise!!!

"See Kaiwei"

This morning I asked Kekoa if he would like to go to Happy Hollow or "da ya ya" (Children's Discovery Museum). He answered, "see Kaiwei", so we headed to Fremont instead to visit the fam. Good choice Kekoa!

Here comes Mackie! Kekoa doesn't quite know what to do with Mackie. He comes and takes toys from Kekoa, grabs on him, and is a little rough. Kekoa just sits there (which is good), he knows Mackie is the baby and shouldn't hurt him, but boy does Kekoa get frustrated sometimes! :)

Kekoa picked out his own outfit today. Cute ha?

Laughing at Kaiwei.

These two play so well together...even to share trains!

Kaiwei is SO funny!

Mackie climbed up to standing using my legs.

Hello cutie pie.

Kaiwei is one of the funniest kids I know. He is so animated when he talks and I love hearing him speak Chinese. He just busts out with songs and sayings that are too funny. He is really into speaking English now and will say what he can to Kekoa. I tell him to speak Chinese to Kekoa and he says he doesn't want to! Here he is singing about Bob the Builder.
