Kekoa loves Spiderman (spideeman). Scott and I wonder why he loves Spiderman so much since he has never seen the cartoon, T.V. show or comic book. He has a couple Spiderman t-shirts that he just loves.
I loved watching Scott play Spiderman with Kekoa. What a wonderful baba.

roses
I have a picture of my son, the cutest boy, strutting up the driveway, carrying fushia colored roses. Yesterday, Kekoa came home from the motorcycle park with flowers for his mommy. They were the sweetest smelling roses, freshly cut from the rose garden. He looked so precious walking toward me, the biggest smile on his face, as he handed me the roses, telling me where I needed to hold them.
Then last night, while we were eating dinner, Kekoa asked me out of the blue, "Mommy, you like the roses I got at the motorcycle park, you like them mommy?" I told him that I loved them. Then he says, "Mommy, you love them?" Oh, this boy knows how to melt his mama's heart! :)

Hi baby Nafan
Auntie Cassie, Ava, and baby Nathan (or as Kekoa says, baby Nafan) came over on Wednesday for a playdate and to bring us dinner (thank you so much).
Kekoa LOVES baby Nathan and jumped right in when he saw a photo op. Ava decided to pass on the photo op, we tried getting all 4 of them together.
We were all laughing at how much bigger Nathan is than Malia. Nathan just started rolling, which was the cutest thing to see. Good job Nathan.

be gentle Nathan! :)

That is enough pictures!

little show off
past 2 nights
Wow, what a different night tonight was.
This was my second night alone with the two kiddos. Let me just say that last night completely sucked the big one. We were all in tears at one point. I was in the bathroom at one point, wondering how I was going to do this every night by myself. It didn't help that Kekoa didn't have a nap, so there were many meltdowns. When it was time to read a story, Kekoa was in tears, Malia was screaming, and I was in tears. I had to tell Kekoa that there is only 1 mommy. This he understood and we repeated it all day today. During dinner tonight he even said, "If there were 2 mommies, it be easier" (which is what I told him last night) Malia fell asleep easy, Kekoa did not. Malia woke up around 9:00 to nurse and Kekoa took this as an opportunity to run back and forth between our room and his room. At one point, I said, "Kekoa, I need you to just go to sleep. Go in your room and go to sleep". He tells me "Oh, that is what you want me to do mommy?" I had to try really hard not to laugh, even though I was so frustrated. After nursing Malia, Kekoa and I slept in our bed, well I fell asleep before he did. He just kept tossing and turning, not sure what time he finally fell asleep.
Tonight was so much smoother. Both Scott and I talked to Kekoa all day long about how he was going to go to bed like a big boy, like his friend Cole does (he wants to be like Cole), that Cole's mommy gives him a kiss and then he goes to bed by himself.
I even gave both kids a bath! Not sure what was so different, but I hope there are more nights like tonight.
Kekoa was good with sharing mama during story time. Malia was so sleepy from her bath that she fell asleep, in my arms, during story time and I was able to transfer her, no problem. And as I write this, Kekoa is actually sleeping in his bed. The first night in awhile that he has fallen asleep so quickly in his own bed, without getting up a million times or just ending up in our bed with me. I am enjoying every minute and feel like a rockstar right now! :)

1 month present
Malia's 1 month present to her mama was sleeping almost 7 1/2 hours last night!!! Yes, she slept from about 9:00pm to 4:30am and then did another 4 hour stretch.
When I heard her waking up, I looked at the clock, thinking it would say 2:00. My mouth dropped when I saw what time it was. Needless to say, I feel so much better today with a little more sleep.
Now if I could only get Kekoa to sleep that long!

park alone? Check!
I can check off taking both kids to the park by myself. Kekoa and I had a great afternoon at Bachman park yesterday. We met his friends, Cole and Rose, there. He was so happy, running around on the trails, playing sticks, sharing snacks. Malia got a lot of snuggle time with Auntie Caren, who held her the entire time, giving me a wonderful break. It felt really great to get out of the house with both of them and to do something fun. Thank you Sara and Caren!

Malia is 1 month old!
Dearest baby Malia,
We have enjoyed you so much this past month, getting to know you and welcoming you into our family. You fit right in, like you have always been here.
You are such a sweet baby girl, so giggly and smiley already. I swear you have been smiling since you were born. I have never seen anyone so happy when they wake up, even though I know you are hungry and your diaper is soiled. You get so goofy on your changing table, I love it. Your smile makes my heart melt, I love it. Your baba loves coming to get you in the mornings, you are so happy to see him and make goofy faces with him too.
You are growing so fast. We all love your chubby cheeks and super rolls, even though they are a bit hard to get clean. You quickly outgrew your newborn diapers and I feel the next size I buy should be 2's. You are fitting very comfortably in 3 month clothes and I have to admit, it is really fun putting you in all the cute girl clothes.
You are super strong. You can already lift your head up off my chest while I'm burping you. It is crazy, like you have super human strength.
You don't really have a schedule yet, each day is different. There are days when you decide not to really nap, just take little cat naps here and there. Then some days you sleep the whole day away. I do feel that you are figuring out the difference between day and night though, really quickly. You go much longer stretches at night between feedings, which is great. I am getting up usually twice a night to nurse you, sometimes three, depending on when you nursed before going to sleep. Usually it is somewhere around 2:00 that I am waking up and then again around 5:00, it really depends. During the day, you nurse anywhere from every hour (if you are having a growth spurt) to every 3 hours. Your naps have gotten shorter during this month. Just last week some of your naps were 4 hours during the day!
You are such a different sleeper than your big brother was. You actually sleep in the car and you are able to put yourself back to sleep on your own. It is amazing. You will sleep in the stroller, swing occasionally or in the vibrating chair, again, amazing for your baba and I to witness. I do have to wrap you once in awhile in the Moby, but I'm not wearing you 24/7, which is what I had to do with your brother. It is fantastic and I hope it doesn't change.
You are in love with your brother already. It is the sweetest thing to watch the two of you. You are so happy to see him and love getting smooches from him. You are the first thing he wants to see when he wakes up in the morning and when he hears you waking up, he races back to give you a kiss. He also loves taking a bath with you and just really loves having you around. He tells you "I love you baby sister" probably 100 times a day. It is a very special bond you guys have.
You have started to coo already too, which is just the sweetest sound. You love talking to us. You have also become just super alert in the past week, checking everything out around you. You love sitting in your swing and will smile and talk to "Jacque the Peacock", a toy we have hanging for you to look at.
You are in love with your binky. Your baba and I are so relieved that you are able to self soothe with it, especially me, since you were using me as your binky. It is so cute watching you suck on it and keeping it in your mouth with your hands. It is also funny because if it falls out near your mouth, you try to get it back in there by rooting around, sometimes successfully too!
We were all so lucky to have your baba home with us this past month. I know he has really treasured this special time with you. We are all so happy you are here and growing so healthy and strong. Your ge ge is so happy you are here and tells me all the time how happy he is that you are not in my tummy anymore.
I am loving getting to know you better with each passing day and sometimes still can't believe you are really finally here.

all alone
Tonight is my first real night alone with both kids, trying to get them both to sleep.
I am so scared.
Sunday was a trial run, my mom was here to help for part of the night. Things were going so smoothly too. It was around 8:15, we thought Kekoa was asleep, Malia was wrapped in the Moby. So, my mom left, and then things fell apart. I even sent Scott a text that said, "wow, both kids asleep". And not more than a few minutes later, another text that said, "oh no, Kekoa crying for me."
Usually, Kekoa will put himself to sleep, even if he is calling for me. Sunday was not one of those nights. He crawled off his bed, and came looking for me, tears streaming down his face. "Mommy, I was calling for you and you didn't come", is what he told me between his sobs. Of course, this instantly made me cry too. So, all 3 of us ended up in our bed, Malia still in the Moby, Kekoa with his head on my lap, me sitting up, crying, feeling so bad. I was able to transfer Malia out of the Moby around 9:30 and then fall asleep with Kekoa on the bed. Not a pleasant evening.
So, I am really scared about tonight. Malia has her crying, witching hour the same time that Kekoa also really needs me to help him get ready for bed. Last night, we figured out that Kekoa is also really scared of the dark right now. He is scared of the lions in his room. Last night, after I turned his light on dim (he does also have an LED candle in his room), he fell asleep. He is napping right now with the light on in his room too. I'm crossing my fingers that leaving the light on will work again tonight. The tricky thing is getting Malia to sleep and to stay asleep while I tuck Kekoa into bed.
I need to keep telling myself...I can do this! I gave birth naturally...twice...I can do anything, right??
