Malia Belle is 3 weeks old today....hard to believe I was in the hospital 3 weeks ago with a brand new baby.
She is still pretty brand new to us and we are getting to know each other better with each passing day.
She still doesn't quite have her days and nights figured out. Some days, she will sleep great, other days, like on Saturday, she was up for about 6 hours! Ouch! Those are pretty stressful days for all of us.
I am still getting up twice a night to nurse her and she still wakes up so happy to see me. She usually goes about 3 hours between, but some nights I am blessed with a 4 hour stretch and then some nights not so blessed with a 2 hour stretch.
She is such a cutie pie though, she will smile at you and all is good.
She is definitely a growing girl, already out of her newborn outfits and into the 0-3 months. She has been having some digestion issues, but they seem to be getting better. I have been feeling so bad for her and her digestion. Her tummy just seemed upset so much of the time. Her belly button seems to be healing nicely too, thank goodness.
Malia and her big brother already have a very special bond, they love each other so much. It is a pretty amazing thing to watch, the siblings bonding.
This past week Malia was introduced to the pacifier. We were trying to avoid giving her one, but she just loves it and it does the trick to soothe her. She's really cute and will hold the pacifier to keep it in her mouth. It is better for me, since she was starting to use me as a pacifier!
One of the nights she wouldn't go to sleep, last Thursday, she ended up in the Moby wrap. I have been more hesitant to use it this time, since Kekoa would only nap in the Moby, but I had to pull out the big guns and it worked. She nursed in it and then feel right asleep. We all breathed a sigh of relief and said, "finally".
We also took Malia to Kekoa's music class this past week. That wasn't so much of a successful trip. I was hoping she would nap the whole time, but of course that didn't happen. She woke up, had a HUGE blow out, poop all up her back..it was kind of a nightmare. Lesson I learned; we are not quite ready for big excursions.
Malia also got a swing (thank you Sara), that she loves. Funny how different our babies are. Kekoa didn't like the swing or the pacifier, but Malia is soothed by both. I am watching her right now, happy as clam, with her binky in her mouth and swinging away, putting herself to sleep.
We have our great days and not so great days. I just keep telling myself to enjoy all this newborn sweetness because it is so fleeting.
Mama, I am hungry!!

she sure is beautiful, hsiaolei!! congrats!
