Bus and Bus!

Kekoa blows me away, I swear he is so amazingly smart. He is now making connections between objects in his books and toys he has at home. He points to the bus in his book and then to his own toy, saying "bus" and "bus". He does the same thing with the police car. Very cool!

Mr. Independent

Kekoa gets more and more independent every day. Now, not only does he want to feed himself, but he will push my hand away, while shaking his head "no" if I try to sneak some bites in there. He even pats his tray, indicating he wants his own bowl of food to eat from. This is quite a change for my little monkey. He used to be so content, playing with his toys or reading books, that he couldn't be bothered to feed himself! I was actually getting very worried. :)
He did such a good job today, eating Greek yogurt, mixed with peanut butter ( I know, sounds gross, but it is so good) and some grapes on top. We eat a lot of peanut butter at our place!
He loves taking "big bites"! :) I couldn't believe how much he was shoveling into his mouth, it was cracking me up. I was just impressed with his skills today using a spoon!

One BIG bite!

Another BIG bite!

Kekoa likes to "feed" all kinds of things, his cars, his toy pig, and even his cup of milk!

I want that grape!

Yum, got it!

Monterey Bay Aquarium

Baba had the day off today and we all headed south to the aquarium in Monterey. It was a gorgeous day. Kekoa had the best time, he was in heaven. I think his favorite thing was the life size whales and dolphins that were hanging from the ceilings, or was it the fish swimming in the kelp forest, or was it the baby green turtles gracefully swimming at his eye level, or was it the pink flamingos, or was it the "bubbles" from the waves, or was it the shore birds, or was it the touch tank, or was it the sea otters, or was it the penguins, or was it...
It was amazing to just see him, taking it all in, talking about it and just loving all the marine life as much as Scott and I do (we are both marine biologists after all!)
We had a super great time a perfect way to spend the day together... and Kekoa snoozed on the way home.

So excited to see the sea otters. They are the cutest things, I wish we could take one home.

Next stop, the kelp forest.

Checking out salmon.

The touch area was a big hit for Kekoa. He loved the way the kelp felt in his hands and couldn't get enough of the sea stars.

Mmm, what do you have?

Kekoa loved this wall, ran back and forth touching all the fish.
We ended up back at the kelp forest before we left. I love this place, it feels like I am diving with the kelp and fish, but I'm not freezing!

I love the fish swimming in the background.

Spring is finally here

Well, I hope I'm not jinxing anything, but spring just may finally be here. After music class, we headed over to one of Kekoa's favorite places to play, the library steps. The lavender is all a bloom and looked so pretty as Kekoa zoomed past it. He never wants to leave the library. I have a sneaking suspicion that Thursdays just may be his favorite day of the week, music AND playing on the library steps? Life doesn't get any better than this!

Can you see Kekoa's friend Ty in the background? These two little rascals chase each other around and boy does it make Kekoa crack up!

Come smell the flowers Kekoa!

Mmmm, smells good! :)

I'm asking Kekoa if he had fun. He is telling me all about it.

Grocery shopping

Kekoa loves his grocery cart, has always loved it, but he actually big enough to play with it, without it toppling over on him. We don't have any play food, I've been meaning to get some food from Melissa and Doug (our favorite brand of wooden toys), but just haven't gotten around to it. So, instead of food, Kekoa shops for his other toys; trucks, blocks, books, and on this day, his frog. This frog is one of his favorite toys, it sings to him and gives kisses too. I thought he just looked adorable pushing the cart with frog in it.

Twist it off!

Kekoa has figured out how to screw the top on and off of his "smoothies"! Pretty impressive to see his little hands at work.
Of course it took two tries to get it on video. He is just being a goof ball in the first one.

A Kekoa size table

Saturday, April 23
All these changes right now, a new booster seat, not moving, not nursing, and a new table, just the right size for Kekoa. I found it on Craigslist, a really great bargain considering it is made of wood, only $35!
It was love at first sight for Kekoa. Here he is having a snack with Paulie.
We did have a bit of a struggle tonight at dinner though, getting Kekoa to sit in his booster and not at his own little table for dinner. He was having a serious toddler meltdown, but in the end, he did sit where we wanted him to...in the booster.

Paulie in diapers!

Saturday, April 23

Scott was trying to change Kekoa's diaper and he was throwing a little bit of a fit. Well, once he put one on Paulie, Kekoa was ok with the diaper change.

My new booster seat

April 23

No more high chair for this little monkey, he is in his new booster and loving it! He know it is his big boy chair.

More veggie sausage please!

The toys have found their way here too, but not as many can fit.
