Happy 20 month birthday little monkey!
Scott thinks I am ridiculous because every month I sing Happy Birthday to Kekoa. He gets excited when he hears it, knows it is a special song.
This has been a super fun month with Kekoa. He is such a good boy, at least for now. I hope this personality trait doesn't change, I can only hope! People even comment on how well behaved and mellow he is. As his mama, I know I just have to make sure his belly is filled. He has had a couple of major meltdowns this month because he was hungry. Hmmmm, I wonder where he gets that from? Definitely not from me! ;)
Kekoa is finally feeding himself with a spoon and fork, finally! I was so worried he would never want to feed himself. The other night he ate his entire dinner himself, noodles and tofu with peanut sauce. He even shakes his head "no" when I try to sneak a few bites in for him. He insists on doing it himself! Yay!
Kekoa's imagination is really showing itself and we love it. He pretends to feed his animals and even his cars. I was feeding him oatmeal and he was looking at the glass bowl, where the oatmeal had smeared, and telling me that he could see a duck and car! It is pretty awesome to watch him playing, awesome to see him become this little completely mobile little boy, who climbs, rolls, dances, trots, laughs, plays hide and seek, talks, sings...you get the picture. I just watch him in complete awe, that we created this little bean.
Kekoa's sleeping schedule has changed this past month. He is taking a later nap, around 1:00 now instead of 12:00. He also naps longer (knock on wood) without us having to go in and console him. I know all this could change again tomorrow, but I am enjoying it while it lasts. He gets this surge of energy after dinner now, can't stop laughing and running around. It is like he ate a whole bunch of sugar, which he hasn't. He cracks me up, the way he runs around. He is also going to sleep later at night and I'm changing up his night time routine. We are all hoping that with the "no nursing in the bed" rule, Kekoa's patterns will change and he will start sleeping longer stretches at night.
As I have blogged about before, Kekoa is also talking up a storm. He is like a little parrot, mimicking whatever we say, the good and the bad. The other day I said, "crap", and then Kekoa said, "rap". Oops, mama really needs to watch her words. Crap never sounded so awful as it did coming out of my son's mouth! He has a humungous vocabulary and understands pretty much everything we ask him. I love it when he answers, "mmmm, hmmm", it is so sweet. He still doesn't say "no", but shakes his head if he doesn't want something.
I love being a mama so much. The time is going by way too fast. A little part of me gets sad every month, when I write about him growing up. But, most of me is having the time of my life, watching this amazing little boy growing up.
