getting back in shape

I went for my first run today since I was about 13 weeks pregnant with Malia. Kekoa was super excited that I was going to be running and wanted to come along. He told Scott, as we were leaving, that it was just going to be him and mommy today. :)

Dr. Teagle reminded me at my 6 week postnatal checkup, on Monday, that I would need to take it slow, that I haven't run in a long time and I wouldn't be where I was before. Boy, was she right. It was tough running, I felt so out of shape. I don't remember feeling that out of shape after having Kekoa. I was pushing the jogging stroller too, with Kekoa in it, so maybe that is why it was extra hard?
Kekoa was like my little trainer. I would run for a few minutes then stop to walk a little bit. Each time I stopped, he would say, "Why you not running mommy?". It was very cute.

After playing for awhile at the motorcycle park, we were ready to leave. Normally, after running to the park, I walk home. Again, my little trainer motivated me to keep running. He wanted to run home, so I did, a few minutes of running, mixed in with walking. While the running was tough, it did feel great to get back out there.

  1. good for you! don't be too hard on yourself. the accomplishment is that you did it, regardless of if it was slower than usual. soon you will be back to your old self
