6 weeks and the best smile

Malia is 6 weeks old today.
She started blowing spit bubbles today, it is really cute.

She is establishing a little bit of a sleep routine. During the day, she is awake for about an hour, then needs another nap. She'll nap anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 plus hours. It just depends on when she nursed last.
At night if she is asleep by 7:30ish, she is usually up around 9:00ish, then 1:00am, then 4:00am, then 6:00am.

She is nursing about every 2-3 hours during the day. She is a very efficient nurser, is on and off in about 5 minutes. This is just very different from Kekoa, who would nurse forever. It makes it much easier to go places when I know she won't be nursing for an hour. She will also take a bottle like a champ. She has had a couple bottles now and I want her to start having one a day, to get used to it.
At night she goes sometimes goes longer stretches. She did go 6 1/2 hours between nursing one day this past week, went to sleep around 7:30 then wasn't up until 1:00! That was very nice. What is also nice is that so far, she goes right back to sleep after she nurses. She has only had a couple of times that she was hard to get back down when she was a super newborn (knock on wood).

She gets cuter and cuter every day. I love her chubby cheeks and all her rolls, She loves to laugh, smile, and talk. She sits in her swing and talks to all her animal friends, it is adorable. Her whole face lights up when I say hello to her...melts my heart.
I love how she sits in the bathtub and just chills out, her tummy protruding and her little legs giving kicks once in awhile. She loves to look around, gets more and more alert, and loves to stretch her arms and legs. Yesterday she was just staring at Kekoa's stuffed animals, looking into their eyes like she was waiting for them to say something.
She doesn't mind tummy time for too long and is trying to push herself up with her arms.
She has started to really turn her head, if she hears our voices, it is amazing.

So far, Malia is a much easier newborn than Kekoa was. She sleeps in the car, sleeps in the stroller, basically does what I imagined a baby would do as a newborn, get tired and fall asleep. She does need to be rocked at times, but it is awesome that she can self soothe. She loves her binky and when she doesn't want it, will spit it out and then seal off her lips so you can't put it back in.

We are so lucky that so far we have such a mellow, sweet, baby girl.

I finally got a picture of my baby girl's smile...doesn't it just melt your heart.
