We have our own little hungry caterpillar, his name is Kekoa! I really can't believe how much he ate today, he has never eaten so much before. I was scared he was going to make himself sick at dinner he ate so much. Scott reminded me that he is really good about telling us when he is full. Still, how can such a little caterpillar eat so much?
For a snack today, Kekoa gobbled down 3 cooked carrots (about 4 inches each), a couple Scott size handfuls of blueberries, soy milk, and a stick of string cheese. He was adorable, stuffing all the food in his mouth, like we were going to take it away from him or something. His cheeks were stuffed. Scott kept telling him, "slow down!"
On the way home from the park this evening, Kekoa at a half a banana and has some more soy milk. He could have eaten the whole banana, but I didn't want him to spoil his dinner. As soon as we walked in the door from the park, Kekoa beelined for his high chair...clearly an indication he was very hungry!
For dinner, Kekoa started off his meal with enormous amounts of steamed zucchini and broccoli. He continued to eat his veggies and also started to eat and finish his generous piece of mahi mahi. This still wasn't enough, barley and mushrooms please mama! Oh, and can I also please have 2 tomatoes (about the size of apricots) and some cornbread casserole? Can I also have some cooked carrots to accompany my other steamed veggies? Kekoa ate like this non stop for an hour. Usually, we take a little breather, play a little, read a book or something. Not tonight. Kekoa couldn't eat enough! Finally, after about an hour and 15 minutes, I thought Kekoa was finished. I took him out of his high chair, washed off his face and hands, and as I was drying them off, he saw the turkey meatloaf on top of the stove..."nem" (more) he says as he pointed to the meatloaf! So, I cut up some meatloaf into little pieces for him, and he ate all the piece as he played with his trucks! He kept saying "nem" and pointing to the bowl where the pieces were! Amazing!
After his bath and before bed, Kekoa topped off his food with some nursing. Where did he find the room? Not really sure, but my goodness, I am still in shock at how much he ate! His belly was like the caterpillar in the story, right before building the cocoon, so pudgy and round. :)
Posing for the camera, with broccoli on his chin, in between eating turkey meatloaf pieces...

Not to worry it is just a growth spurt. You'll notice these more and more now. They go from not eating anything to eating everything. They also sleep more or rather get sleepy more. Stuff him full! :)
