My birthday party

August 15, 2010
We had Kekoa's first birthday today. It ended up being a super fun party, just what Scott and I had imagined it would be...people relaxing under the shade of the ginko tree, eating delicious food and enjoying each other's company. Some of got to swim, including Kekoa. He had a great time playing in the pool with Meilani, Jordan, and Oriana.

The day started off a little crazy, a little stressful. From BBQing chicken, to running and picking up the cake, to forgetting my wallet and having to drive back to the store to pick up the cake, to picking up balloons, to rushing back home with 30 minutes left to get ready! Thank you so much to Auntie Cassie and Ava for watching Kekoa while Scott and I finished getting everything ready! And thank you to everyone else that helped us get all the decoration and food set up. Thank you, thank you, thank you! The sad news of the day was that Kaiwei, my dad, and Jenny weren't going to make it! Boo hoo, Kaiwei got a virus and was really sick! :( I was sooooo sad, for Kaiwei and because they weren't going to be there to join in the festivities.

The day really ended up being perfect, the weather was perfect, the food was really delicious, and everyone had a great time. The only thing that would have been more perfect if is all of our family and friends that live far away could have joined in the festivities with us! We miss you all! :)

The best part of the party was that Kekoa had a blast. It was like he knew we were all there to celebrate for him. He is a social butterfly and just loves to be around a lot of people. Kekoa was all smiles and in heaven with all the attention.

He didn't really like the cake. I made carrot cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, but he didn't want any part of it. He played with the frosting in his hands but would spit it out when I tried to put it in his mouth! Maybe he'll be like his Uncle and not like sweets. He did like the trucks on the big cake though! (I'm going to post cake pictures separately)
Kekoa was such a trooper, only one nap that day, but he made it all the way to bedtime without a melt down. He was so exhausted that he slept 13 hours!! We love you so much Kekoa and can't believe we just had a party for you turning 1. Time really does fly way too fast!

The decorations...
Cassie took some of these pictures (the good ones!) like this one of Kekoa's cupcake.

Milan and Oriana staring each other down.

How old are you Oriana? I'm 2, as she puts up two fingers.

What a smile!! We are so lucky to have such a happy baby!

Auntie Tessa keeping Kekoa company!

I had a really great time watching Oriana and Jordan playing with each other. They were so cute, racing the trucks around.

  1. Great Pictures. Ori had a blast and at least waited until she got in the car to have her melt down. I knew it was coming, just too much fun that day. Ori said to tell you guys that the chicken was delicious. She gobbled it up when she came home and hardly let me have any. Thanks for a great time and Happy Birthday to Kekoa.
