Well, I am thrilled I get to stay home with you again this year. You are such a happy little guy, so inquisitive and curious. You love to play with your toys and are really good at playing by yourself. Your current favorite toys are trucks and cars (really anything with wheels, you like to push it while you crawl), books, and your stuffed animals, Buzz, Lulu, Mr. Pickles, Gorilla, and Paulie. You are adorable because you get to excited to see Buzz and Lulu if they are in bed. You start talking to them and giving them kisses! You are actually obsessed with trucks and get really excited to see them when we are outside. Your two favorite books right now are your truck books. You beeline for them in the mornings. You love to be outside and will gesture for the door when it is time to get out there. Our morning routine includes a walk or a run and you definitely don't let us get away with not going outside! It calms you down before your nap. You are growing so fast and are now in size 4 diapers for nighttime sleep. You were leaking out of the 3's. You are cruising like a champ all over the place. You are also standing everywhere and love to balance with things in your hands. You are very proud of yourself for this accomplishment. At the park, you are more interested in playing on the slide and walking around then being in the swing. It is actually quite amazing because you will point to where you want to go and what you want to do when we are at the park. You are really communicating with us. The thing that is really not the most pleasant is your scream. Whew, that scream makes our ears ring and I'm sure all the neighbors all down the street can hear it! We can't wait for you to outgrow that!
You are super momtastic right now and I love it!! You really are very sweet and will snuggle with daddy and me, but you have to know where I am. As your daddy said on your birthday, "Kekoa has what he wants for his birthday, his mama!" I know this will pass and I am just enjoying it while it lasts!
How is your sleep? Well, you have decided that 1 nap is good for you. It is still tough right now though, because you only nap for an hour. You still want your morning nap, usually 3 hours after you wake up, which is usually between 6:30-7:00. This makes for a very long day. But also an early bedtime of 6:15ish. You are usually asleep by 6:30 pm. You still like to nurse before bed and usually once or twice during the night. You are sleeping with us, so I don't really even wake up when you need to nurse, which is nice. In the morning, you nurse again, then roll over onto the pillow. You then sit up and I ask you where your baba is. You point to daddy with the biggest smile on your face. I tell you to give him a kiss and you crawl over and rest your head on him. It is really the sweetest thing. Then we play stuffed animals for a little while or read books before getting up out of bed. What amazes me most is how in this year you have gone from sleeping in a carrier only for naps to falling asleep on the bed by yourself! You now know when it is bedtime and usually you do not put up much of a fight. I love your little face when you wake up from your nap. You sit up in bed and look towards the door and wait for one of us to come in and greet you. We watch you wake up in the monitor, it is very cute. We come in and ask you if it is cockadoodledoozy time. You then point to the window, so we open up the shade and say "cockadoodle doo". You think this is hilarious. I love how rosy your cheeks are when you wake up and you have that sleepy look in your eyes.
How is your eating? Well, you still love to nurse, in the morning, before your nap, and once again sometime in the afternoon. In the afternoons, we have a little downtime and snuggle too. You nurse again before bed and then snack in the night. You are liking to eat again, you went through a phase this past month for a little while where you didn't really want to eat much. A lot of food was thrown on the floor and in the trash. During this time though, you were nursing a lot, drinking a lot of milk, so I wasn't too worried. Now you seem to be hungry again for solids. You love love love Cheerios, will scream if you see the box or your snack trap, which holds the Cheerios. Your breakfast is usually blueberries (which is so cute to watch you grab and eat), yogurt and cheerios. Some of your favorite food right now are salmon, halibut, broccoli, peas, cauliflower, mozzarella cheese, beans, homemade turkey meatloaf, yogurt, tofu, and fruit (melons, blueberries, plums, peaches, tomatoes, grapes). You are not into pasta or breads too much.
And here are photos from your 12 month photo shoot with your friends...
too big for Gorilla's arm to fit around me!
Kisses for Paulie.
