Today was record breaking high temperatures so we naturally headed to the beach. Scott had the day off which was just perfect. As we drove over Highway 17 and into Santa Cruz, the car thermometer said it was 107 degrees!!! As we got drove through Santa Cruz and neared the ocean the temperature dropped to 88 degrees, a perfect day for the beach. Kekoa was besides himself, he was so excited as we walked toward the sandy beach. He kept pointing to the birds, the huge seagulls and brown pelicans in the sky. When we laid the blanket out, he just wanted me to hold him, he needed to get used to these new surroundings. Scott gave him a red shovel to play with and then he was just fine. I took him over to see the ocean and figured he would be nervous. I was wrong. Wow, our baby really loves the ocean, isn't scared of it at all. He wanted to get down immediately so he could walk and kept gesturing to this HUGE body of water. He wanted to get in it as soon as possible. When I put him down, he grabbed my hands and was trying to run into the chilly water. I thought he would freak out when the cold ocean touched his feet, but he just wanted more and to go farther out. He got soaking wet so we brought him back up to our spot to change him into his bathing suit. This is when he started freaking out...when he had to leave the water for a minute! He was crying, screaming because he wanted to get back in the water! Kekoa had the best afternoon, even fell asleep for a few minutes on the way home.
This was one of those moments that I will always remember, Kekoa's first ocean experience. I love moments like these ones, they are really special.
Kekoa very upset to be heading away from the water to get changed into his suit!
I LOVE the beach!
I'm momtastic! This is what makes my mama's heart melt.
Kekoa's first taste of the ocean...
Daddy's turn.
I don't want to leave the water people!
