Sand feels good

So, we finally took Kekoa to play in the sand. We were both feeling really guilty that we had not done this yet!! Kekoa has been to Santa Cruz many times, but never to play at the beach. Yesterday we jumped in the car after his nap and just went for it. It ended up being so much fun, even more fun than if we had planned it all out. It was super windy, but actually not too cold in the sun. We went to the beach by the lighthouse on the West Side. It was the closest one, and there were all kinds of dogs for Kekoa to gawk at. It's actually called either "Its Beach or Dog Beach"...dogs every where. Kekoa sat at the edge of the blanket and twirled his feet in the soft sand. We were expecting him to not like it, but he loved it! He loved the huge Brown Pelicans flying overhead, the waves crashing on the rocks, the dogs frolicking in the sand and surf, the trees blowing in the wind, and playing with his sand toys. He was sooo happy and excited to be there, we have ourselves a beach baby. Whew!
After getting our fill of the sun and sand, we went to our favorite restaurant downtown, The Greek and saw Mr. Vasili. He ooohed and awed over Kekoa and how big he is. Kekoa couldn't stop staring at the objects hanging from the ceiling and all of the paintings. It doesn't surprise me that he likes Greek food as much as I do, I ate it all the time while I was pregnant with him. He was chowing down on the lentil soup and even liked the super garlicky tzasiki.

My sun hat is a little small mama!
Daddy introducing Kekoa to the sand.
Hmmm, not so sure yet, but warming up to this sand stuff.
Oooh, cute little piggies covered with sand!
This is GREAT!
Mama was on a mission to get the perfect family photo!

Yum, yum!

Finally got it!

Drums or a bucket? I love Kekoa's little face here, this expression is one of my faves.

Our view from where we were sitting!

Kekoa looks like such a big boy in this picture, all grown up.
Hmmm, what is up there?
Yes, I am teething! Look at all those pearly whites coming in!
