How can this be? One more month and my little baby will be 1 year old! I was just writing in his baby book, looking back at all the things I wrote each month. Time has really flown by. What I realized is that our little guy has changed a lot as far as development goes, but a lot of things haven't changed. He was hard to put to sleep when he was a newbie baby, and he is still pretty hard to put to sleep. He was super alert and loved looking around when he was a newbie and he definitely is such an observant little guy. He is still super sweet and cuddly, that hasn't changed, thank goodness.
Kekoa has 3 teeth coming in at the same time right now! Poor thing, he is chewing on everything and drooling too. He is talking a lot, we can't understand most of what he's trying to tell us, but he is talking up a storm. He isn't as into eating at the moment. Some days he eats and other days he doesn't really want anything. It is hard to figure out what he wants to eat, sometimes he wants me to feed him, sometimes he wants to feed himself, sometimes he wants pureed food to other times it is chunks he wants! One minute he likes what he's eating, the next he is pushing it out of his mouth with his tongue. I figure he won't let himself starve, if he's hungry he'll eat.
This month it seems that Kekoa has realized there is a great big world out there and he doesn't want to miss any of it. He is obsessed with things in the sky, airplanes, helicopters, blimps, birds, clouds, the moon. Anytime he hears a plane or helicopter, he stops what he is doing and looks up at the sky for it. If he sees it, he reaches out and points with his hand and makes his howling like a wolf sound, quite adorable.
Other things Kekoa has been loving this past month:
- standing on his changing table and watching the cars go by. He is fascinated with cars, trucks, and motorcycles.
-Bella the cat. He still gets so excited to see her and even says, be be be, when we see Bella
-throwing food on the floor.
-throwing tantrums in the high chair especially
-nursing (I'm so happy Kekoa still loves to nurse. I will definitely miss it when he's all done. He still nurses about 4-5 times a day, which is great. He knows his spot on the bed now and when its time to nurse he goes and lays on his little blanket! It is so cute!)
-using me as a jungle gym, crawling all over and giving me big kisses and hugs
-his sippy cup, can't really feed him a meal without it
-drinking water, hmmmm, wonder where he gets that from?
-playing in the water, whether it is the pool, fountain, baby pool, tub, it's all good for Kekoa
-fighting and flipping over when we try to change his diaper
-taking longer naps, often longer than an hour! (knock on wood)
-playing lights on/lights off
-going through the cabinets in the kitchen and taking everything out
-putting things back into baskets, drawers, shelves, bowls, my purse, your lunch bag, etc and then taking things back out and then putting them back in!
-swim lessons
-music class.
-His feet. He will still suck on his toes once in awhile and loves to grab at them. I love it when he uses them like monkey feet.
-His new car that Po po gave him.
-being outside. We can be bike riding, going for a walk, laying on a blanket under a tree, sitting at the park, anything outside!
-laying and resting his head on my chest, Scott's chest, and now on the bed by himself, when its time to go to sleep. It is sooo cute!
-pointing at the ceiling fan (the whole hand point) and saying "fa fa"
-standing at the coffee table and pulling everything off the top of it
-crawling with an object in his right hand, usually a ball, but he also loves to crawl with a car.
-waking up daddy in the mornings
-screaming
-grabbing Cheerios out of his snack trap and putting as many as he can into his mouth
-dancing. Kekoa moves his head side to side and also up and down when he hears any type of music, even just a little clip when we are listening to NPR. He'll stop what he is doing and look at me and start to dance! He also loves it when I sing or dance with him. Itsy bitsy spider is one of his favorite songs right now. He takes my thumbs when I start to sing it so we can go through the hand motions together. Of course he has a huge smile on his face too.
I'm sure I'm forgetting something on this list. We love our little man so much! He amazes us daily!
