camping trip #2

We survived our second camping trip with both kids.  How was it?  Fantastic!  We explored in the redwood forest this time and went on a couple of "hikes" with the kiddos.  Erik and I actually went up to the top of Buzzard's Loop, which was amazing (thank you Scott for watching the kiddos).   I'm bummed I didn't get any pictures or videos of the kids playing in the redwood trees.  It was their little fort and they would entertain themselves in the grove forever!

Malia slept like she does at home and actually snuggled with us in the mornings (I think she was cold this time).  I mean, she snuggled right into my arm one morning and fell asleep until 7:00 in the morning!!  The next morning she fell asleep on top of Scott's chest...he was in heaven.  In the day though, the weather was so warm, I mean unseasonably warm for the coast.  I was expecting freezing temperatures like last time, even came prepared this time with lots of clothes for all of us, but we didn't really need any of it (except in the mornings).  I loved the warm weather!!

There was lots of playing in the creek and playing with friends.  Kekoa had a blast with Milan, Kasper, Una, and Andrew.  There was also a lot of yummy food, Tina and Friedrick brought the most amazing chocolate that made the most amazing s'more I have ever had.

Arriving Day

Friedrik, Tina, and their new little man, Oskar.

So cute to watch little Oskar and Fiona chatting with each other through the nets...

Enjoying the view of the river.

 Let's play bocce...

Malia lasted about 1 minute in here and did not want to share any of Fiona's toys with her.

Uncle Erik helps Kekoa roast the perfect marshmallow.

Milan looked so funny all slumped in this big chair, enjoying his snack.

 Buzzard's Loop hike...

a stop for treats at the Big Sur Bakery, the real purpose of this mission was to get Kekoa to fall asleep in the car.

brothers

We showed Uncle Erik the beautiful Julia Pfeiffer water fall (actually walked down to it this time) and then headed home.  Of course we stopped at Phil's for a late lunch/early dinner.  And of course it was delicious.
Sunday (leaving day)
All in camo, a bday gift from Po Po.  Not sure if an all camo outfit is actually a good thing for a 4 year old when you are camping, I really couldn't see him in the woods!
Kekoa was practicing his spy skills here, see how he blends in with the car and you can't even see him? ;)

A stop at Nepenthe for the view...

Hiking to the falls...
I want my mommy!!

Kekoa is showing Uncle Erik how there was a landslide and it changed the beach.

Finally, both kids asleep.  Camping is exhausting!!

We heart Phil's.

What a perfect way to wind down the summer, made even more fun with Uncle Erik!!
