Last Beach Day

September 20

Our last beach day, we returned to Haleiwa Beach Park. It is only 0.5 miles from Zen Villa and our safest bet for swimming. It was also the first beach we swam in when we arrived. Scott also got to surf there. There were quite a few people out surfing and others playing in the waves that were breaking on shore. I went for my last swim in the warm waters of Hawaii! It was a little scary getting in because the waves and current were so strong. The highlight of the day was watching this little girl, about 7 years old, surfing with her grandfather. She was fearless, just paddled right into the crashing waves. Her grandfather would push her into a wave and she would paddle, then stand up. It was awesome.

Kekoa had a great time, playing in this little pool of water the waves would bring in. There were a couple of other little kids in it and they were playing catch with Kekoa. He loved playing with them! Scott also found him a baby coconut. He thought this was the coolest thing! He worked up an appetite and ate my half of a tuna fish sandwich I made for Scott and I, lettuce and all! :)

Of course on the way back home, we stopped for our last shave ice. Mmmm, I can still taste the sweetness. I went all out and even got sweetened condensed milk on the top...soooo delicious!
