3 years and 1 month

Dear Kekoa,

You have really come into your own this past month. I can't believe how much you have grown and changed. You have started school and it has done wonders for you. We have only gone 4 times, but you now feel so at home there. I even left you for an hour on Tuesday and you did just fine! I told you I was going to Target to get you some big boy undies and you said, Ok, bye. You are one of the older kids in the class, which is a good thing. You are more confident and just today have started participating during circle time. You love your teacher, think she is very funny. You just love school.

You say the funniest things and your speech has just blown up. Today you told me in the car that a fly flew into your pants and that is why you were having an itchy spot. You ask really great questions and your memory is amazing. Tonight at dinner, I gave you some of my flat bread and you said, "mommy, remember when we came back from Hawaii and Pop Pop was here and we ate this?" Well, actually, no I didn't remember until you said something. You are always remembering things and start your sentence with, "mommy, remember when...."

You are done with naps. Sure you could take one, but then that means you don't sleep well at night. Bedtime is a bit rushed, trying to get you into bed by 7:00 pm, but it is all worth it because you fall asleep so fast. Instead of napping, you call it "relax time". "Mommy, I need to relax", is what you tell me. So you will color, or read, do puzzles, or watch a show ( a very special treat). I love that you go to bed so easily now at night. It is a dream come true and make my evenings with you and your sister just a little easier.

You love to help out (most of the time), especially when it comes to your clothes. You love putting your clothes away, back into their proper drawers. You love putting your dirty clothes in the red basket in your closet. You also love to have all your drawers closed, which is good for mama, who tends to leave them open. What I love the best, is that you are super into picking out your clothes and you like them to match! Super cute little man.

It seems your incredible fear of the dark has toned down a bit. Wow, when we got back from Hawaii I didn't think you were ever going to be able to sleep again. I am glad bedtime isn't so scary for you. You still don't sleep through the night, but that is ok. You come in our room, snuggle into the "cocoon" (body pillow) and fall right back to sleep. I asked your doctor if you will ever sleep through the night and he said, sure, eventually. :)

We just love you so much little man. Your love of life makes each and every day so much fun for me. I am so happy I get to spend each day with you and watch all your growing up and all your changes. I am proud of the little man you are becoming. You love your sister so much and it is wonderful to see how close you guys are already. You are such a sweetie pie, still so cuddly, I love that about you.

I am sad that you are growing up so fast but at the same time so excited to watch you grow. You are truly amazing.

love,
your mama
