You started saying "bubble" a couple of weeks ago. This is your first 2 syllable word that you are saying! If I point to the bubbles and say it, you will repeat after me. Well, tonight in the tub was the first time you saw the bubbles on the water and pointed to them while saying bubble, all on your own. You also said it so clearly, I'm so proud of you!
You have actually gotten really upset with your mama, twice now! You give me "the look" and everything. Both times it is when I have come home from being gone all day. Today you were sitting in your high chair, finishing your dinner with Popo. You usually have a big smile for me when I come in the door, but today, nothing, just a mean look on your face, letting me know how upset you were that I was gone. I was able to get you to give me hugs and kisses pretty quickly though! :)
You have started to be afraid of things, and not just Santa. Your imagination must be taking off! You don't like anything with faux fur, like jackets or hats...they totally freak you out. You have a hat with fuzzy on it and when I pull it out you start to panic and cry. You have also become afraid of the tree outside your bedroom. Tonight after your bath, you wouldn't even let me get you dressed in there...I had to dress you on the bed.
Ever since your daddy has put up the Christmas tree lights, you are in heaven. In the mornings, after a snuggle, you point to the door and say "light (in Chinese). You grab daddy's hand, to make sure he is coming too, and we all go out to the living room. We turn on the lights and you clap your hands in excitement. It is the cutest thing.
Outside our kitchen window in the evening is a winter wonderland (according to Kekoa) It is completely lit up down below with lights and a reindeer that moves its head back and forth. After dinner, you point to the window and say light. I turn off all the kitchen lights, pick you up as we peek outside at the lights. You get very excited and then point to the front door. We then waddle over to the front door, I count to 3, and "ta da", open the front door so you can see the lit up patio! You LOVE this, think it is so funny how I count. We go back and forth from the kitchen to the front door a few times before your bath.
You are making connections like crazy. I love it when you waddle your little butt over and scoot into my lap with your favorite book right now, Richard Scarry's Giant Word Book. There is a page with holidays in the book, with pictures of snowmen, Christmas trees, and Santa. You have made the connection between the tree in the book and the Christmas tree in our living room. You point to the snowman in the book and mom's snowmen collection. Whenever you see Santa, you say "danta".
When I'm carrying you, or you are sitting in my lap snuggling, you like to pat me and say "mama", as if to say, I am so happy you are my mama. I then ask you, "Where is Kekoa?" and you pat yourself! Adorable!
Your 3 favorite bedtime stories this past month have been, The Nutcracker, Where is the Big Red Doggie (a Clifford book), and What Can You Do in the Rain? Each page of the Clifford book asks, Where is the big red doggie? and you have become an expert and finding Clifford and pointing him out. My favorite to read with you is What Can You Do in the Rain? You cuddle up in my lap and I animate each page for you. You know what I'm going to do and now copy me. One page says, taste a raindrop, we both stick out our tongues. Another page says, "Feel it fall", you put your hand out and wait for me to "rain" on your hand. The best is, "take a duckwalk" and we both say quack, quack as we bend our elbows to make wings and duckwalk our arms. You get a huge smile on your face! (And now whenever you see any duck you duckwalk!)
How much do you love taking medicine? Not at all! You were sick for the past couple of weeks with your first ear infection :( You actually had a double ear infection. You were supposed to take 4ml of antibiotics, twice a day...we were lucky to get 4 ml for the whole day. You would see the dropper of bright pink medicine coming and zip up your lips. It was nearly impossible to get any in your mouth. Either your daddy had to get you to open your mouth and then I would squirt the medicine in or I would get you to smile and open up and then daddy would squirt some in. Most of the time you would spit it out, bright pink, dribbling down your chin and onto your bib!
You are really starting to throw tantrums now, kicking your legs and throwing yourself onto the ground. Welcome to toddlerhood!

Love to hear about those milestones! Aim for the back of the cheek when giving medicine. Most of the time they swallow before being able to spit it out.
