I love our family tradition of finding our perfect Christmas tree. This year was a special treat because Kaiwei and my dad came along too. They arrived early Tuesday morning and we headed out. Kaiwei "borrowed" one of Kekoa's dump trucks for the ride and Kekoa had his own little truck too. They looked so cute together in the back seat of my dad's car.
We are so lucky to live so close to all the Christmas tree farms in the Santa Cruz mountains. The drive alone is so beautiful as you wind up the mountain through all the gorgeous trees. The Christmas tree farm we choose has the best drive in, down a windy little lane, surrounded by
We followed Scott in his truck to the same Christmas tree farm that we went to last year. It is so crazy to think, just last year Kekoa was so small and took a nap in the Ergo, as Scott and I hiked down to find our tree. This year, the two little boys were running around all over the place, picking up sticks and digging in the dirt. Kekoa followed Kaiwei the whole time and wanted to copy whatever he was doing. It was so adorable and impossible to get a good picture of the two of them...they are non-stop moving.
Scott went on ahead and scouted out the area for a white fir. He found the most perfect tree and my dad and I hiked down with the boys to find him. You sure don't cover a lot of ground when walking with two toddlers! Kekoa approved so Scott got to sawing it down. I am always impressed by Scott's super strength as he hoisted the cut tree above his shoulders and hiked back up to the truck with it. Wow!
It was a beautiful day, not cold at all. I love the views, the smells, and being outside with the family. It was the best watching Kekoa and Kaiwei really enjoying themselves. They were all smiles but did get pooped out on the hike back up to the car. Kekoa actually ditched his sticks and wanted to be carried. Kaiwei also wanted to be carried, but my dad was already carrying the saw and the jackets, so I held his hand. We took our time walking up and we all made it! It was a perfect morning!
Checking out Kaiwei...

These two would have been so happy just hanging out in the back of Scott's truck! They were dancing around and squealing with delight.

Let's go find the tree guys!

Wow, this is so amazing!

Watcha doin' Kaiwei?
Diggin in the dirt, wanna join?
2 big sticks because 1 stick is not good enough! :)

Wait for me Kaiwei!

Kekoa helps pick out the tree!

Proud papa!

Kaiwei and my dad head up the hill.

A little pruning...

Scott carried our tree, the whole way back up the steep hill, with it above his shoulders! I was so impressed.

Scott and I love the way Kekoa's hair looks from the back.
Yay, it's daddy!
Daddy loving his hug!
Kaiwei going in for a hug...
The tree made it home!

Kekoa was actually a little bit afraid of the tree when Scott first brought it up the stairs. He ran straight for mama!
