got milk?

One of Kekoa's favorite foods is goat cheese.  He would eat the entire tube of it if I let him.  Last night for dinner, he was eating huge chunks of it with cherry tomatoes when he asked me, "mama, what that mean, goat cheese?"  After explaining to him that goat cheese is made from the milk of goats, that got him really thinking.  I told him that he drank milk from a cow and Malia drank milk from mama.  I started naming off some animals that also make milk and animals that don't.  He thought this was just fascinating and caught on very quickly.

Me: "Do chickens make milk?"
Kekoa: "No"
Me: "Why not?"
Kekoa: "Because chickens are a bird and birds don't make milk"

This conversation lasted into the evening, even during bedtime.

Tonight, it was more of the same.  He started asking me about buffalos, yaks, penguins ("no, because they are a bird and birds don't make milk"), polar bears...basically any animal he could see on his bed or on his growth chart.  It was adorable.  I just love the curiosity and the way his brain is working right now.
