Anyhoo, I loaded up the double wide stroller and headed out. Kekoa said, "let's go for a hike mommy" so that is what we did. I walked to the Guadalupe Oak Grove with both kiddos in the stroller. We got to the trail head and both Kekoa and I said, "oh no"...there were a few stairs and narrow entrance. How was I going to get the double wide past? I didn't have to walk all the way around to the main entrance. My brain actually worked this afternoon...I first took Kekoa out of the stroller to lighten the load. I still couldn't get the stroller up the stairs, so next step was to take Malia out (in her car seat, of course). I still couldn't quite get it up the stairs without some help lifting the front wheel...so I called on my trusty helper, Kekoa, a.k.a. Buzz Lightyear. He helped me lift the front wheel up the step, along with his dog Clifford, and voila, we just squeezed past the narrow gate and we were in. I was so excited to have a helper! Buzz Lightyear was pretty proud of himself too.
The best part of the hike was finding the woodpeckers. We stood underneath one tree for about 15 minutes, watching the woodpeckers hammering away. We found so many and they weren't scared of us at all. Kekoa was completely mesmerized.
At the park, while Malia snoozed, I had so much fun listening to Kekoa play. He was re-enacting the whole morning at the dealership...how the guy was showing me how to start the car and how everything worked inside. It was adorable.
We made it home just before it got dark. As we were walking home, watching the sunset, Kekoa said, "mommy, the sky is beautiful"...yes it was!
