Dearest baby girl,
I can't believe you have been on this Earth now for 6 whole months. Let me tell you, you are so juicy, so squishy and yummy, I just want to squeeze and kiss you all day long! You have started giving me kisses back, big open mouth, slobbery smooches. I love it at night, when I'm up nursing you, and you grab my face with your hands to give me a kiss. It is so sweet. And yesterday, you actually reached out to me, so I would hold you...the first time. :) My heart completely melted.
You are such a happy little girl, always laughing and smiling, and soooo observant. You are constantly watching your brother and all he is doing. When you see him, your whole face lights up, it is quite adorable. You really only get fussy when you are hungry or super tired, other than that, you are pretty easy going.
You aren't to keen laying down, you want to be sitting up, checking out all the action. To solve this problem, you sit in the high chair, which is perfect...you can see everything, I can keep my eye on you too (since it is in the kitchen) and it keeps you a little safer from your brother, who just wants to smother you with his love. You love to bang your cups while you're sitting in the high chair, then throw them off for fun, just to hear them drop. Your sweet brother helps you pick them up and then you throw them off again, it is a fun game for you.
This month was quite exciting because you were able to stand, up against the train table! You are actually really great at standing up, such strong little legs already. You couldn't believe your eyes, all your brother's trains, your eyes just lit up. You had been watching him play and wondering what was up on top of that table, so now there is no more mystery. Of course the first thing you did was put one of his trains in your mouth.
You are forming all kinds of opinions, and love to choose which toys you want to play with. You were getting fussy so I put the banana and the binky in front of you. You went for the binky and then got it in your mouth, all by yourself! You also do this really funny head shake, like you are shaking your head "no". It always makes us laugh.
You absolutely love your exersaucer, it may be your favorite place to be. You have so much fun bouncing it and entertain all of us while we watch you. You now play with all the toys around it, especially the ones you can put in your mouth. I love watching your little legs bounce up and down.
Your sleeping improved from last month, that is for sure. You have an early bedtime, between 6:00 and 7:00, but you definitely prefer closer to 6:00. You usually get up about twice a night, around midnight and then again around 3:00 or 4:00. We actually did a little sleep training of sorts. You were getting up every 2 hours but it was really just because you wanted some comfort. So, your Baba would go in and give your binky. Once you figured out it wasn't going to be me coming in every time, your sleep started to improve. You are up between 5:00 and 6:00 and I can nurse you and you'll go back asleep. Sometimes if I don't come in, you'll put yourself back to sleep, which is nice. Nevertheless, I am exhausted! If you happen to have a spectacular night and sleep an extra long stretch, that is the night your brother is up. I know that this will pass very soon, so even though I am tired, I actually cherish being up with you. Nursing is the only time I have to just spend with you cuddling.
You are still a nursing champ and nurse about every 3 hours during the day. You are so funny when you know it is time to nurse, such a drama queen. You'll start screaming and throwing your head back, even though you were perfectly fine a second before. As soon as I start to sit in the glider chair, you throw your little tantrum, then eagerly start to nurse. It is so cute when you pull off to get a good look at me, give me a huge smile and giggle, then get back to nursing. You usually do this a few times, especially in the mornings. You pretty much nurse for 5 minutes exactly on one side, and then shorter on the other side. At night, I have to have the binky very handy to put in your mouth when I pull you off, otherwise you can get pretty upset.
Yesterday you started solids, avocado, for the very first time. You didn't know quite what to do with it and made a huge mess. I'm excited to introduce you to all kinds of new foods.
You are our social little butterfly. You love to be out and about, making new friends, laughing and smiling all the time. We all just love you so much. Your brother tells you all day long, "I love you baby girl", it is so sweet. He has been reading you stories too, which is so cute. I just wish you could stay a squishy baby for a little longer, just a little. It is such a joy to be your mama and see your little personality get stronger with each day. Thank you for being such a sweet baby girl.
love,
your mama
