Thanksgiving prep

I didn't take one single picture today....amazing for me!
But there are so many things I want to remember about today.  I had such a great day with the kiddos today, only wish Scott was off work all day to have enjoyed our afternoon.

This morning, Kekoa and I had a really good time, running a couple of errands and going to library story time.  He is such a great little shopper, loves to look at all the stuff but never throws a fit because he wants me to buy him something.  He got his eyes full in Walgreens, so many toys and little trinkets to stare at.  There was also a Christmas tree set up, which he loved to look at too.  It is so awesome how the Christmas spirit is already running through Kekoa's veins, this boy loves everything about Christmas!

After listening to a couple of stories, playing with the toys after story time, then picking out a few books (today it was many Clifford books and a Christmas book), we headed to Safeway to pick up the last of the Thanksgiving stuff.  I thought it would be jammed packed, but it was surprisingly not crowded.  We picked out decorations for sugar cookies that we will be making and checked out the crabs in the seafood section.  All morning long Kekoa had his sea lion with him, a new toy from Uncle Dom.  It is actually a bath toy, but Kekoa just loves it...has been saying, "I love you sea lion" all day long.

On the way home, around noonish, Kekoa zonked out in the car, then transferred to the sofa, where he slept for about 2 hours!  He has been so tired since the time change, getting up super early and not falling back asleep.  I just let him sleep and figured I would suffer later for it tonight, (which I did, he fell asleep after 9:00).

We had a really fun afternoon though.  Kekoa has been asking me all day if we could make turkey hands...ummm, arts and crafts?  Yes please!  I wanted to make them yesterday but he didn't want to.  Today he was all about it.  We traced, colored, and he even got to cut.  He named his turkey hand "Marvin" and my turkey hand "Meeven".  Tomorrow we need to get Baba's turkey hand and Malia's turkey hand.

After being cooped up all afternoon, a walk was just what we needed.  Malia woke up from her afternoon nap and we headed out for a walk.  It was so gorgeous out, the sun was setting and the colorful fall leaves were glowing.  I love this time of year, even though it means winter is coming.  Kekoa chatted with me for the entire walk and Malia smiled and played with her toys.  We made it home and it was just a little dark.  It was perfect because Kekoa wanted his bath before dinner tonight.  While the spinach pizza baked in the oven, I cleaned the kids, got Malia ready for bed, and then Kekoa and I ate dinner together.  Kekoa ate three pieces of spinach pizza and almost a half of cucumber.  Tonight he discovered vinegrette to dip his cucumber in...yummy!

It might sound like our night was almost over, but oh no, there was still cranberry sauce to make.  Kekoa was super excited to help, loved watching the cranberries pop as they cooked and helped me add all the ingredients....orange juice, orange zest, fresh grated ginger, crushed pineapple, and honey.  It smells so good in the kitchen and I'm hoping Kekoa will like to eat the cranberry sauce too.

It did take Kekoa forever to fall asleep, but he was being very cute...kept telling me how much he loves me all his favorite parts of the day.  I wish he could have a little nap and still fall asleep at a descent hour.

I love days like this and love that tomorrow is Thanksgiving.  Now I am off to make the stuffing!
