We headed to Santa Cruz today for the surf contest. Both my boys were super excited about watching the surfers. Scott had shown Kekoa the contest on the computer before we left, so he couldn't wait to see the real thing. He likes watching them ride the big waves (his words). Kekoa was also so excited to watch the camera slide back and forth on the cable. Malia was excited to be in the carrier and looking around. She just loved it and couldn't stop giggling. This girl can giggle, reminds me of when I was little and would just laugh and laugh.
Not only was the contest great to watch (the waves were pumping) but the weather was unbelievable. It was so incredibly warm, in the high 70s, unheard of this time of year. The last time we watched a surf contest, out in SF Ocean Beach, it was also super warm. These surfers that have come from all over the world must think we always have incredible weather! They don't even realize how lucky they are.
We picnicked in Lighthouse Field, across from the surf contest.
And what a better way to end our perfect day in Santa Cruz? A stop at the Penny Creamery, of course! Kekoa was all about his chocolate
sorbet ice cream, couldn't get enough.
