Finding that perfect tree
What a gorgeous day today...so warm and sunny. I have to pinch myself that it is the 3rd week in November! No shopping for us today, we headed into the Santa Cruz mountains to find our Christmas tree. We went to a new Christmas tree farm this year, it sat up on the top of the mountains and the view was spectacular. We had a really great time, wandering through the trees, finding sticks, digging holes, jumping in tanbark piles, and going the "crazy way" on the trails.
Funny how last year I was pregnant as we hunted for our tree and this year I had Malia in the baby carrier. I still remember going to look for a tree with Kekoa when he was in the baby carrier. This year, Kekoa was hiking, blazing trails, and having the best time. He actually found the tree. Scott was following him and stumbled across it...after hours of hunting, we found our perfect tree. My woodsman husband cut it down, no problem, then hoisted it up and carried it up the hill! We are all amazed at how strong he is, especially Kekoa, who told me," I want to be just like Baba, when I am older."
A fabulous family day. I love this family tradition, it is so much fun. Next year I think we will bring more food and some yummy beverages too.
ready to go find that tree
snack break!
I love my bagel mommy.
Kekoa was so fascinated with this old farm equipment.
Kekoa and his treasured sticks.
The beautiful view.
This is it...our tree.
Scott is just amazing. He carried the tree up, up, and up to the top of the hill.
Why are we "The Hapa's"? Hapa in Hawaiian means half. I'm a hapa girl, half Chinese. Together we are the Hapa's, half Hanson and half Parks. The "ha" is pronounced like something is funny, ha, ha, ha. The "pa" is pronounced like the "pa" in papa.
