Oh my gosh, I really can't believe it. This is the second night in a row that Kekoa has gone to sleep without my laying down with him in the bed. I am pinching myself and SO proud of Kekoa.
Last night I just couldn't take it anymore, lying on my his bed or any bed for that matter, isn't the most comfortable thing right now. I told him that I was going to need to sit up. He freaked out for a bit, usually he can't handle it and cries, telling me to lay back down next to him. I told him that I can't lay down anymore, it is hurting mama. Surprisingly he was OK with this. I sat on his bed for a few minutes then stood up. He didn't freak out, which I was also shocked about. Kekoa has always needed me right there to go to sleep. I waited for a bit in his room then snuck out...he fell asleep.
Today I told him that I wasn't going to be laying down with him to sleep. Of course he asked my why, so I explained how it hurts me to lay down. We went in his room and I sat with him on the bed. He said, "you not going to snuggle with me mama?" I sat on the bed with him for awhile, he tossed and turned, telling me he couldn't get comfy. I eventually stood up and tried to sneak out, but he saw me. He didn't panic though, which is such a shocker. I then told him I was leaving, had to go to the bathroom. He had to keep his eyes shut the entire time or I wasn't going to come back. I left, turned on the monitor to watch him and after about 10 minutes, he fell asleep on his own!!! Wow.
This is a HUGE milestone for Kekoa. I never thought this day would come. I thought I would be laying down with him to sleep for years so come. Keeping my fingers crossed this isn't just a 2 day fluke!
