sheep shearing day

Kekoa and I headed out, bright and early, to Hidden Villa Farm, in the Los Altos Hills for a special event...sheep shearing day. Scott had to work today, so we had to go without baba, which we were both bummed about.
I almost didn't go because the weather has been so horrible all week and I was afraid it would rain again today. I am so glad that Kekoa and I went. First of all, our boy loves going to farms. After I had parked the car, he kept telling me, "let's go mama, let's go". He was so anxious to go see the sheep get a haircut. I was excited too, not only to see the sheep get a haircut, but there was going to be sheep herding. This was so cool to watch, the dog running around, commanding the sheep. It was just like in that movie Babe. I had never seen anything like it.

The event was really well planned out. The farm is such a peaceful place and so beautiful. We spent almost an hour just watching the lambs eating and frolicking. Kekoa loved it when they got close enough that he could pet them. I kept asking him if he wanted to go somewhere else, but he really wanted to just hang out with the lambs. He was enjoying climbing up the gate. I finally convinced him to leave (by slowly walking away, he wanted to come with mama, of course) so we could check out all the activities that were set up. Kekoa got to help push the pedal to make the the wheel turn on the loom. He waited in line, so patiently for this. Then we headed to the house, which is now the main office, that had special activities for little kids. Kekoa wasn't into the arts and crafts, but we played with the felt board and read a couple of stories. He also really enjoyed sorting the toy farm animals. Kekoa loved being in the house, it was such a beautiful home, with a fabulous outdoor wooden patio area, covered in purple wisteria. This is where Kekoa and I came back to and enjoyed our lunch, after we made a quick stop to see the chickens and the big pig.

Kekoa was such a trooper. He never ceases to amaze me. I didn't bring the stroller, he walked the entire time and this farm is on many acres. All the animals areas are very spread out. We stayed until almost 2:00 and he did great, as long as he had a couple sticks to walk with, he was very content. He also does such an amazing job listening and following directions. Scott and I are so lucky.

He crashed out after about 5 minutes in the car. I was even able to transfer him once we got home, carried him to his bed and took a nap with him. We had a great time this morning. It would have been perfect if baba could have joined us.

Enjoying a snack.
The lambs were just too cute.

Kekoa had this stick with him all day long. We ate lunch at the house behind Kekoa....
surrounded by sweet smelling wisteria.
We ran into some friends too...Noah and also Milan (didn't get a good picture of him)
