We headed out on Friday. Stopped in San Francisco for lunch at Park Chow. I was craving the french toast, but they stop serving breakfast on weekdays at 11:00...such a bummer, but still a yummy lunch.
Cars all packed. Scott keeps telling me how we really need that mini van!

Yay, we are at Park Chow!
Can you see how disappointed I am about the no french toast thing?
To get to Steep Ravine, we had to cross one of Kekoa's favorite things in life right now, the Golden Gate Bridge. He was in seventh heaven. We got out on the other side to enjoy the sunshine and gorgeous view of the bridge and city. I couldn't believe how warm it was!
Here we go...across the bridge!
Who is SO excited?

Enjoying a cool sip of water with his favorite bridge in the background.
Our hope was that he would fall asleep in the car for the rest of the drive and he eventually did...but boy does he fight sleep! Our destination was Stinson Beach. The weather was unbelievable, so warm. Kekoa slept a little while longer in the car and when he woke up he couldn't believe his luck...he woke up at the beach! And his buddies, Cole and Kyle were there too! Kekoa couldn't get enough of the "big boys" this weekend. It was very cute. He was wanting to run and jump just like them, so badly.
Yay, we made it to Stinson Beach!

All wet and loving it.

Oh, that sun is SO bright!
Oh, that Pacific Ocean is so cold here in Northern Cali!
Kekoa loved riding in the wheel barrow. He was baba's "helper" to bring all the camping equipment from the car down to the cabin.

Playing with the big boys.
Our cabin...it doesn't get much better than this!
Time to eat dinner!
We really did luck out with the weather on Friday. Saturday was definitely a lot colder, more typical Stinson Beach weather. We enjoyed our morning, taking our time with breakfast, and then walking down to the rocky beach. Pretty cool that you can walk to the beach from the cabins. The tide was super high, so there wasn't any sand, just beautiful rocks, that the boys enjoyed skipping. Kekoa really liked throwing them into the ocean too. We kept our eyes out for whales the entire time, but didn't see any. There were all these interesting structures made of the driftwood down on the beach...made for some lounging!
You can see the cabins behind Scott and Kekoa.

After lunch, we were all so excited to go on a hike. I can't wait to come back and hike the full loop. This time we hiked down, 2.5 miles, still an amazing hike, so beautiful. We meandered through huge redwood trees with thick moss hanging off every where. As we got closer to the ocean, the pea soup fog settled in. It was so misty. Kekoa did awesome too. He hiked a lot of it himself, actually was trying to run to keep up with the boys. I love that we have such an outdoor boy, he was the most excited to go for the hike. There was a 15 foot ladder we had to climb down and Kekoa did it with no problem at all!

Kekoa had to join the big kids on this fallen redwood tree.

Baba's tired!

Just kidding.

Waiting for the car.

Passed out after that hike!

We had a beautiful sunset as we ate dinner. It was hard to get a good picture of it.
Kekoa having a blast with Kyle before bedtime. I love his laugh so much.
Bedtime while camping was actually not a big deal. Kekoa was so exhausted both nights that he fell asleep so fast. He had actually never fallen asleep so fast in his life! We have our blow up mattress, which is great, but not so kind on a pregnant mama's hips! One of the best parts of staying here is listening to the sound of the ocean crash into the rocks below.
Sunday was a rainy day. I just kept thinking how we really did luck out on the weather and how much I love that the cabins have wood burning stoves! We said good-bye to the Wittkops and headed back out on the super windy road. Before heading home, we stopped at the Bay Area Discovery Museum in Sausalito. Wow, what a great place, with an awesome view of the Golden Gate Bridge. The outdoor playground area was Kekoa's favorite place. He saw the boat there and made a beeline right to it. We spent a couple of hours there and headed home.

Kekoa couldn't get enough of this contraption. You stepped on a pedal and the fake frogs inside the tube would blow bubbles.
Kekoa was actually into dressing up. He first tried on this turtle back, then a skunk, and finally a ladybug. It was adorable.

Kekoa and his favorite thing...the boat.

Could it be??
Yes it is...a replica of the Golden Gate Bridge!

Oh wow!

Kekoa makes it to the top, all by himself!

Ringing this big bell made Kekoa very happy.

Kekoa made it back across the Golden Gate Bridge and then zonked out. He was so exhausted from the action packed weekend. He slept the whole way home and then even stayed asleep when we pulled into the driveway...for about an hour more! When he woke up in the car, I carried him back into the house and he fell asleep again on the couch! I had to wake him up though, it was getting close to 5:00.

The best part of the weekend was getting to spend so much time together as a family. If only we could win the lottery and Scott would stay home with us all the time!
