morning on the farm

This morning was so fun. I asked Kekoa when he woke up if he would like to go to a farm. He said "sheepie" and made his sound for pig, with a big smile on his face. I took it as a yes!
After breakfast, we headed to Deer Hollow Farm for their spring farm tour. It was a gorgeous morning, not too hot, not too cold. Kekoa had the best time. On a normal farm day here, visitors can't go inside the animal pens. But today, we got to go inside and pet the animals (sorry Michele :) There were the cutest kids (aka baby goats for those of you who aren't up to speed on your farm animals). I don't normally like goats, but the goats here were actually so sweet, with long floppy ears and soft fur. Kekoa couldn't get enough of the goats, especially the baby's.
The sheep weren't as friendly, but we did get to pet one that was eating. Before we went into the see the live animals, the tour guide always showed us a sample of the animal hide, that we could touch. Kekoa didn't like these at all, didn't want to pet the hides.
Scott and I couldn't stop laughing at our little monkey. He was the most vocal child on the tour, not shy at all, talking up a storm and SUPER excited about being on the farm. We couldn't help but feeling so proud of him. He also did such an amazing job of following directions. When it was time to go to a different area of the farm, he would take my hand and waddle away with me. There weren't any tantrums or having to reason at all. I am figuring out, for the most part, if Kekoa's belly is full, he is a pretty agreeable little boy and follows directions well. Once he is hungry, boy does he get grumpy. Not sure where he picks this up from, not mama that is for sure! ;)

I loved the garden here. Kekoa loves to smell all the herbs and touch the different plants. He was also pretty intent on trying to turn on the water, but was unsuccessful. There was another little boy that was following Kekoa all around the garden area and trying to copy whatever he did. It was pretty darn cute.

We had to leave the tour a little early, in order to get home in time for Kekoa's nap. The only thing we missed was going in to see the chickens and ducks up close but we were all ready to get home and rest. I can't wait to bring Kekoa back in a month to see the piglets!

Showing off their hand stamps!

Not so sure about the goat hide...

Kekoa loved all these wooden signs. He liked to peek and see what was underneath!

What's under there?
The baby, hiding!
Hello sheepie!

I don't want to touch that mama!

running to try and pet the "sheepie"

HUGE cabbage leaves!

Kekoa was very interested in the root box...he could see how carrots grow in the ground.

So gentle with all the animals...

Not the best picture, I know, but every time we passed this tractor, Kekoa would get super excited and talk to it.

I looked over as we were walking back to the car and Kekoa had his feet kicked up. He brought home a little present on the bottom of his shoe that we had to wash off...a little something that he stepped in.
