Children's Discovery Museum

Kekoa has been asking me for weeks now to go to "da ya ya" ( the big duck), aka Children's Discovery Museum(CDM). I haven't been feeling well, definitely not up for a visit. Today I was finally feeling better, it was soooo hot outside, and I thought, what better place to go than the air conditioned CDM? When Scott told him where I was taking him, he was over the moon, the whole drive over he kept saying, "da ya ya".
It was one of those mornings when things were just going our way, we found parking at one of the meters right up front and Kekoa was on his absolute best behavior, not meltdowns or tantrums of any kind. He was so agreeable about everything, even when it was time to go.

It was actually the first time we have gone where I wish we had more time, I'm usually ready to leave. As Kekoa gets older, it is that much more fun to take him places. It is also just so amazing to see how each time we come here, he changes what he wants to play with and how he interacts with the exhibits.

First stop, bubbles...

Let me just climb on up in here. (This is just the coolest thing, a real ambulance, Kekoa loves it)

Let me find my favorite music, NOT NPR, like mama always wants to listen to.

We don't usually play in the water because I don't usually remember to bring Kekoa a change of clothes. Today, I came prepared. I thought he would go crazy and be completely drenched, but no. Kekoa was super mellow, played for awhile and then was ready to move on. I love his blue rain suit, compliments of CDM! I remember bringing Kaiwei here when he was 16 months old and how crazy he went in the water!

This was really cool. The balls would get sucked into the funnel and shoot out the bottom. We played here for awhile...not sure who liked it more, Kekoa or mama! :)

I'm still a little wet mama!
One of the new things Kekoa discovered today. He is very interested in buttons, knobs, wires, buckles, basically trying to figure out how things fit in places. This was perfect.

Hello? Where did that green light go?
Come on mama...let's get upstairs!
I was excited that the art room was open. When we go in the afternoons, it is already closed. Kekoa was excited too, fascinated with the water colors and painting wall. His finished watercolor is on the fridge right now and he is SO proud of himself...actually grabbed my legs, while I was making to dinner, to come over and show me his art work.

The final masterpiece...watercolors on coffee filter paper. A really cool project because the colors all run together.

My little Picasso...
