beach with by babes

Thursday is the one day during the week that we are completely free.  The weather is supposed to start cooling off so today was the perfect day to take the kiddos to the beach.  I kept going back and forth in my mind...did I want to take them by myself, it's so much stuff?  Yes, I want to take them, I want to go.

In the end, the yes won out and I am so glad it did.  It was a gorgeous day and we had the beach pretty much to ourselves.  I forget how much the beach crowds go away after school starts.  We stopped off for bagels first and actually hung out in the parking lot for about 10 minutes while Malia napped.  I really just wanted to sneak into the bagel shop and leave her sleeping in the car, but I didn't.  Kekoa and I waited patiently for her to wake up.

After  bagels, we went to our favorite beach, Cowell's and sat near the lifeguard stand...it was perfect because it provided shade which meant one less thing for me to haul down to the beach.  The kids loved playing underneath it too.

Before we left the beach, we went for a stroll under the boardwalk.  Kekoa is so funny, he wouldn't even walk on the wet sand for fear the waves were going to get him (there were no waves).  The loud sounds were actually freaking out Malia a little bit too, especially when we were standing under the boardwalk.  Kekoa was excited, he found some treasure under there (5 quarters!).

As we left the parking lot, we all agreed it was the perfect beach day that would have been made even more perfect if Baba had come.  Kekoa pointed out that "Baba makes the best sand castles"...so there you go.

And no trip to the beach is complete without a stop for ice cream.  Kekoa got his usual, chocolate sorbet and I actually didn't get any this time.  Kekoa passed out immediately in the car and actually just woke up (guess he will be up late tonight).  Malia was just about to fall asleep and I told her we were almost home, so she popped her eyes back open and waited for her milk, her crib, and her lovies.

pure happiness

trying to get that last drop
