changes

Well, a lot has been going on here.  We have entered a new phase with Malia...she is on the bottle.  It is so weird and strange for me.  I was giving her a bottle last night, thinking, I have never given any of my kid a bottle before.  I have been pumping like  a mad woman and feel like a cow.  It is sad that the nursing ended so abruptly, so different from Kekoa!

I am also sleep training Malia.  She is getting up at least twice in the night to nurse and this mama is exhausted, I mean, I feel like the walking dead every day.  I just can't do it anymore.  After talking with her doctor, I felt that I was ready.  It is obvious that Malia was nursing at night because she just wasn't drinking any milk during the day.  She is way too busy in the day to stop and nurse.  Plus, she really likes the bottle, being able to hold it and feed herself...man, this girl is independent!  My theory is, if she doesn't drink milk during the night, she will fill herself up during the day and be able to sleep through the night...that is my theory anyways.

I started on Wednesday and survived the screaming.  She screamed off and on for close to an hour then passed out and went to sleep.  It was bad, but I knew she could do it.  I almost went in after about 20 minutes, I felt so bad, but then remembered what my friend emailed me, "to teach Malia to sleep is a priceless gift", so true, so true.

Last night, she woke up at 4:00 am and started crying/screaming and went for about 45 minutes then fell back asleep.  The last couple of nights, Scott has been giving her a bottle when he comes home from work and that isn't going to happen tonight, so we shall see how it goes.  I just can't keep getting up anymore.  Keeping my fingers crossed that our smart little cookie is going to catch on quick!
