Steep Ravine

Let me just say "wow". Steep Ravine is one of the most magical places I have ever stayed at. A few little rustic cabins, tucked away, right on the cliffs, over looking the Pacific Ocean. Our first camping trip with Kekoa was a complete success. He loved the cabin, loved being right on the water, loved that we were all together.
He is a great traveler, something I do not take for granted.
There was another family there, with a little boy around Kekoa's age. Once Kekoa saw him, he told me "friend" and wanted to go say hi. When we got close, Kekoa was too shy to say hi, but the boy came over and gave Kekoa a huge hug. So cute.
We pulled in at the best time too, the fog was lifting and we had the most beautiful sunset.
Kekoa conked right out, only about 5 minutes for him to fall asleep. It was a huge day for him!

This is where we are camping?

Wow, amazing mama!

Pretty amazing...

Our cabin, #4, called Rocky Point.

The ocean view from inside the cabin.

Kekoa standing on our "bed". We have our queen size blowup mattress that fit perfectly on here and was so comfy for the night.

Kekoa made himself right at home in the little cabin. We pulled out some "new" toys for him (found on Craigslist), so it was a real treat! He had ample room to spread out and play.

Looking for fishing boats.

There's one!

Scott is the best at the BBQ. We are so lucky that baba wants to grill up our dinner...yummy skirt steak! One of our camping neighbors even walked by and commented on how yummy it smelled!

Hmmm, what is baba doing? (Kekoa investigating Scott cooking on the BBQ)

Our cabin from the backside.

Having fun with baba.

So determined to get up these stairs.

Yummy, dinnertime!

Come on, let's go for our after dinner hike!!

Kekoa climbing rocks to check out the lichen. He really enjoyed our short but so beautiful after dinner hike.

Finally made it!

Cheese mama!

The bright orange lichen that Kekoa couldn't get enough of.

I found this lovely spot to enjoy my glass of wine. The sun felt so good and there was the perfect little ledge to sit and soak it all up, the view, the sun, listening to my son and husband play...the perfect spot.

Joining mama in her spot.

I think Kekoa loves camping, what do you think?

Before bed entertainment. Scott shows Kekoa how to play cards!

Bye bye sun...thank you for such a lovely day!

The next day was SO foggy and cold, in the 50's. We headed to Stinson Beach for breakfast and the beach afterwards. Kekoa didn't mind the thick fog, just loved scooping and playing in the sand. I thought it was so neat that we could see our cabins from the beach. They look even more rustic from a distance.

"Thick as pea soup" fog.

A little friend gave Kekoa these sweet smelling jasmine flowers.

Some play time at the park before heading to the beach across the street.

Which sand toys do I have to work with here?

It's a chilly August morning here at Stinson Beach!

Brrrr, so cold!

You can see Steep Ravine way off in the distance.

Practicing our balance.

Kekoa was so cute walking with his bucket. He was very determined to carry it all by himself.

Final bye bye to our wonderful spot.

On our way back home, we stopped in San Francisco for some lunch. It was so cold that hot noodle soup sounded so good. We found a pho restaurant that hit the spot. As we drove home, the temperature just kept going up and up...a good 30 degrees warmer here in the South Bay. I loved our trip but had really missed the warm sun. We had an AMAZING time...definitely going to try and go back again!

Where is that hot pho mama?

Dancing with Thomas on the bed.
Kekoa loves his new Thomas flashlight toy. He couldn't stop pressing the button to make it say "choo choo".

I love lichen!

Kekoa's infectious laugh!

52 card pickup!

Kekoa not so good at picking up the cards.
