What better way to spend my birthday then at my favorite place...the beach? We rented an adorable beach cottage (thank you Tessa and Jeff for sharing) on Opal Cliff Drive. It was just perfect, so quaint and super close to the beach. We spent all weekend walking and there was a beach cruiser that I was frequently riding up and down East Cliff. It was so wonderful to have Uncle Erik with us to help celebrate (his big birthday is coming up too).
Saturday, the Krings family spent the day with us. It was great. The boys had a blast, not sure what they liked better...pillow fighting or the beach. Sara and I took the little ones to New Leaf, my favorite grocery store to get stuff for dinner. It was so nice to have someone to grocery shop with. Remember running errands with friends and how much more fun it is?? We were so happy they decided to stay for dinner. It was delicious.
I must say, it was a perfect beach weekend.

My favorite part of the weekend was cruising on the beach cruiser along the cliffs. The weather was just perfect and there is something about being on a cruiser...makes you feel young! It brought back many memories of being in college at UC Santa Cruz and how lovely it was to live so close to the ocean. Erik joined me on this trip, scooting on the hugest skateboard ever! It was hilarious. We were checking out the surf for Scott, who did end up going and having a fabulous time.
Photo shoot of Malia. Her eye color looked just amazing...

To keep Malia happy while grocery shopping, she munched on an apple. It was so cute.
Delicious birthday dinner...
The boys couldn't stop giggling. I love it when Kekoa laughs like this.
Thanks for such a great first day at the beach house!
Sunday was spent lounging. We saw Tessa, Jeff, and Henry as we were out an about and went to see the place they were staying at. There was a toy room there, so needless to say the kids were in heaven. How wonderful would it be to all be living on the beach and really have them be our neighbors?
We were super excited to have Auntie Joleen, Jordan, and Meilani come out in the afternoon and stay for Scott's pasta dinner.
Kekoa is so brave going down this hill. You can't tell how steep it is in the video, but it is super steep. He would charge right up it and turn around and come barreling down...it was crazy. The scariest part is the cliff is right there, the ocean is where you'll go if you aren't paying attention!

Notice the couple looking at Kekoa at the top of the hill. They couldn't believe this little guy was just going for it!

Notice his shirt? It is our favorite "small Paul" riding a dirt bike like Evel Knievel It says, "Go Big or Go Home"...how fitting for today!
Malia loved the pack 'n play that was there. She snoozed right on schedule. It's tiring watching her Ge Ge ride down the big hill! :)
After Malia's nap, we all headed to the beach. I love that we have total beach babes...both kiddos just love digging in the sand.

Meet "Uni". It was love at first sight for Kekoa. He was so upset to have to leave Uni behind and unfortunately Uni is no longer for sale. :(
Our final day at the beach. Malia insisted on sitting in the big chair, no high chair for this big girl!
One last morning at the beach...

While Malia napped, Kekoa and I went to 41st Ave for a little shopping and ice cream. We can't have a beach visit and not get ice cream at some point! :) It was actually quite cool and Kekoa found a spot to sit in the sun. He rode his balance bike all the way there and did a great job following directions.
Kekoa really doesn't want to leave Uni...there were a lot of tears.
Our one family shot together...Kekoa is still so upset about Uni.

I'm glad you had such a special getaway for your birthday. You deserved it!
