freedom ride

Kekoa did something totally and completely out of character today.  He was riding his bike from our house to the neighbors, then riding up their driveway and turning around.

When we all came in to get a drink of water, Kekoa told me he would like to get back outside to ride his bike.  I told him I would be right out there to check on him.  I could hear his little bell ringing as he rode in front of the house.  Then I didn't hear it anymore. I walked outside and yelled for him.  "Koa".  "I'm here", he yelled back from the garage. The next thing I know, the corner neighbor walks up and tells me that Kekoa had ridden way past our house, and was around the corner!  When he had seen Kekoa, he was already turned around and riding back toward our house.

Kekoa seemed a little nervous.  He told me he wasn't paying attention and had gone too far.  I asked him if he was a little bit nervous about being so far from home by himself...he was.

When Kekoa showed me where he had ridden to, it wasn't around the corner...thanks goodness, but just to the house on the corner.  Completely out of character for him.
