Our membership to Monterey Bay Aquarium is expiring at the end of this month, so we best thought to visit one more time. When we just had one little peanut, we would go all the time, at least once a month. Now that we have two little peanuts, the trip isn't so easy...our baby peanut's nap time really suffers. But today, we decided to throw caution to the wind and go.
We left after Malia's nap time, which meant leaving around 11:15. It was actually a great time to arrive at the aquarium since most of the school groups were getting ready to leave. The first place we headed was the new sea otter exhibit. We were hoping to catch them eating, but it was still a 10 minute wait (entirely too long for an anxious little boy), so we headed to the open ocean tank. I took Malia in through the jellyfish and Kekoa and Scott went in through the other entrance. Malia was in love with the jellies. She really wanted to touch them and just didn't have the concept that there was a big, thick piece of glass in between us. Her little pincher fingers were so cute as she tried to pick up the jellies. All of us love the open ocean tank. The tunas seemed even bigger to me today, more powerful as they darted past the glass.
We ended up staying until almost 4:30. The thing Kekoa wanted to see the most was the diver. He LOVES divers. The kelp forest feeding was at 4:00, so about every 10 minutes we heard, "I want to see the diver. When is the diver?" It was worth it to wait. I have never actually sat and watched the diver feeding the kelp forest fish. It was really cool, all the fish swarmed around him and then a wolf eel came out of nowhere, looking for a bite to eat. Kekoa kept asking me questions about diving, about the bubbles, how was he breathing, he is just fascinated.
Even though it was a super long day (Kekoa didn't sleep until after 10:00 pm), I am so glad we went. Kekoa would ask at least once a week to go to the aquarium. He really does love this place. And to see Malia's face at all the exhibits and splashing around was really priceless.

| Look at all the milk a whale calf drinks. |

| Here comes trouble... |
Malia had a great time with the crayons, taking them all out of the black container. Another little girl came over and she did not want to share!
| Malia went crazy for the water, not so much the creatures in the water, just getting all wet. |
| A huge hammerhead shark. Can I have it please?? (not this time, Kekoa has more stuffed animals than anyone I know.) |
| Waiting so patiently for the kelp feeding show. |
| There's the diver, surrounded by all the fish. |
| Thanks for driving us Baba! |
| Who wants a cheese stick when I can have sushi?? (Our usual stop at Pink Godzilla on the way home) |
