40 months

Dearest Kekoa,

Wow, 40 months, 40 months, really??  I can't believe it.

You make us laugh every single day with your silly, goofy personality.  I love hearing you talk and you tell the best stories.  You are really getting the different verb tenses too, I've even caught you correcting yourself a few times.  Such a smarty pants!  You really do say the funniest things.  I love it when you give me a kiss and you say, "your lips are deiicious (delicious)" or when you say something you know isn't true, "I'm just joking, just joking."  You also love to mimic what I am saying, like a little parrot.  If I say, " I love my big boy", you answer back, "I love my big girl".  You will also now tell me things to say that you like to hear, like if you say "I love my mommy, mommy" and I don't say anything, you'll tell me, say "I love you Kekoa, Kekoa, say that"...it is very cute.

Your newest things right now is playing with stuffed animals.  Trains have been put on hold for now.  You ask, "mommy (or baba), do you want to play with me?"  Oh, I love it.  You build a "polar cave" out of Freddy, the hugest teddy bear ever and have so much fun climbing in and out of it.

You still have a fierce love of books, which is just amazing.  The library is one of your favorite places to go.  We go at least once a week and come home with a huge bag of books each time.  I am hoping you pass this love of reading on to your sister.  You also like to read to her, which is the cutest.

You are such a big boy, have had a growth spurt for sure.  I have had to buy you all new pants, you are in a 3T now (for the most part).  We were finally smart and bought you some size 6 diapers for night time.  You kept leaking out of your size 5's, you'd think we would have wised up a lot sooner!  Pretty exciting now because some mornings you are waking up with a dry diaper, which is awesome.  Sometimes you even get up in the night to go to the bathroom!  Now guess who wears the size 5 at night???  Your baby sister!

You are the best big brother, so sweet to your sister ( most of the time).  You love to make her laugh and tell her, "I love you baby sister" or "I love you little girl" all the time.  If she is upset you try to make her laugh so she'll stop crying.  I love how you stand on your little stool, right in front of her changing table, to make her laugh.  She can't get enough of you either and is always on the look out for her Ge Ge.  You love to give her big hugs and kisses too.  I think it will be hard for you to share with her though, when she starts crawling and getting into all your stuff.

What can I say, you are still such a sweet and sensitive boy.  You still love cuddles and snuggling in my lap (snuggies).  I know you not only cherish but need a lot of one on one time with your mama, which is hard since there is only one mama and baby sister needs me too.  Most of the time you are pretty good about sharing mama.  We have come along way since baby sister first came home.  Most nights you are fine with me nursing her and putting her to sleep, while you wait on your own in the living room.  I never thought we would reach this point.

I am so proud of the little boy your becoming.  Thank you for making me laugh each and every day.  Thank you for making me a better person and for letting rediscover all the wonders in life.  I love you with all my heart.
