Our little monkey is fast approaching 2 years old...so fast, I can't believe it. I wish time could slow down, just a little bit, so this time could be enjoyed that much more. Kekoa is the cutest thing ever, I swear he gets cuter every day. He is such a love, so affectionate, and follows direction really well (at least for now). He likes to smoosh his face into mine so I'll give him even more kisses. If I stop, he'll resmoosh (is that a word?) his face into my lips again for more smooches! He also loves to climb on top of me in bed and just smoosh his face into my neck. It is like this surge of love from Kekoa. I savor all of these snuggly moments, wish I could bottle them up!
He is super smart, understands everything, in Chinese or English. His vocabulary is blowing up. Each new day brings new words and sounds...it is so amazing. He will say please and thank you, sometimes I don't even have to prompt him. He does it all on his own, it is the sweetest sound when he says, "xie xie mama" (thank you mama). He is also starting to pronounce old words even better. Instead of saying "moo" for moon, he now adds the "n" sound at the end. He also says "bus" now instead of "bu". Putting together two words is an all day thing now, which is just mind blowing, to hear him talking. I love how Kekoa says his words too. Who can make the words, Oh no, bubbles, moon, dump truck, and all aboard sound just so adorable?
Kekoa is super fascinated with body parts right now. One of his favorite books is actually a little "My first body" book, with babies in it and their body parts all labeled. He loves it when I'm wearing a tank top and can see and touch my arms. He always has to touch both of them. Sometimes he gets upset if I try to put a sweatshirt on, he has to have those arms exposed. It is super funny when mama has her legs bare...he'll run up to me, laugh, and rub my legs! He loves it when I ask him where a body part is, he'll point to it on his own body and on mine. One of his favorite times to do this is when we get out of the tub.
One of Kekoa's favorite games right now is hide and seek. He thinks it is very funny when mama "hides" behind a door or the couch. Our place is so small there really aren't too many places to disappear (actually a good thing because I can always find Kekoa). I scurry off to hide, he chases me with a huge smile on his face, takes my hand when he finds me, and leads me up to go and hide again. He could do this all day! Of course we also play with Paulie.
Kekoa has become super super super attached to his little blankie. It now has to go to bed with him, even when I'm putting him to sleep, and at night he'll call for it if he "loses" it in the bed. In the morning, he likes to cruise around for awhile with it, before ditching it for his cars and trucks. It is so cute how he holds it, has to have the little head in his hands. He also loves to give it kisses and wants Scott and I to kiss it too. I've bought another one, exactly like it, just in case, but Kekoa wants nothing to do with the new one. Smartie pants.
The train table has been a huge hit. (I'll post some more pictures of it later). He plays with is all day long, actually can't wait to wake up and play with it. I love hearing him say "all aboard" just like a train conductor would. It has brought endless entertainment for all of us, especially for Scott and Kekoa. I love hearing the two of them playing when I'm cooking in the kitchen.
For all of Kekoa's absolutely wonderful and amazing traits, he is the worst sleeper on the planet, I'm convinced! I have yet to fill in the space in his baby book, "First time slept through the night". Mama is exhausted, having not had one night of full sleep in so long that I can't even remember. But I am now determined to get this little monkey to stop nursing at night. He will throw tantrums in his sleep, screaming, "nai nai" (milk) and trying to lift up my shirt. But I know that he will catch on super quick. I just have to stick to my guns, instead of thinking "please make this whining sound just stop, I'm so tired" and then taking the easy way out....letting him nurse. I just need to hang in there, both Scott and I do!
I look forward to each new day with Kekoa. His cute, smiley little face in the morning is such an amazing thing to wake up to. I feel like the luckiest mama on the planet to have such a special boy as my son. Just when I think I can't love him anymore, I do! Other moms used to tell me that while I was pregnant, that you just keep loving your children more and more. Now I know what they mean.
