I am amazed everyday at how much Kekoa changes...becoming less and less of a baby and more and more an independent toddler. We played hookie today from music class, the weather was way too perfect to be inside. Where did Kekoa and I go instead? We went to the beach again...of course! No pics though, I was on my own this time and was busy following my little monkey all around. He was into his own thing, didn't even want to hold my hand for most of the afternoon. He had the best time, finding every huge pile of kelp that had washed up on the beach and trying to pick it up. He also discovered the wet sand, the kind of sand that is all gooey, that your feet sink into if you stand in it too long. The tide was really low and we could walk way out onto the beach. He was headed toward the water and then realized how amazing this wet sand was. He kept bending down, picking it up, and then trying to fling it off of his hands. He was the sandiest he had ever been, it was quite hilarious. Since I was on my own, I had Kekoa walk back to the car with me, while I lugged all the stuff. He was so cute, holding my hand the whole way. It was like he knew we were heading to the car and he needed to stay close. He made it most of the way back, through the soft sand, but got tired toward the end. He ran up to my legs and wanted to be carried the rest of the way to the car. I was impressed at how far he walked. We sure did miss daddy today at the beach, but still enjoyed this 80 degree November day in Santa Cruz!
We were both really hungry from playing at the beach. I have been able to cook in the evenings again (very quick meals only, a lot of pasta!) Kekoa keeps himself busy, playing with his toys and rearranging his clothes! Today I found him taking out all his neatly folded t-shirts and putting them back in the drawer, what a great helper! :)
Kekoa finished his dinner early, we had some time to kill before bath and bed, so we headed outside. It was so incredibly warm, even though the sun was setting. The sky was so pink and beautiful. All Kekoa had on was his cloth diaper and a t-shirt. As soon as we went outside, he was off and running to the complex next door...they have the coolest rocks! Kekoa is so curious, I love watching him explore. Again, he was completely independent, off and doing his own thing. As we were heading home, we met a really nice mom with her two girls, also enjoying the warm evening. Kekoa was totally flirting with them, saying bye bye and giving his award winning smile!
Ooooh, rocks!

Making my escape!

made it...

I think I need to sit in the rocks!
