Happy Thanksgiving

Thursday, November 25

Kekoa's second Thanksgiving was at Papa Beezy's. There was a lot of food and a lot of kids running around....just the way we like it! My dad made the juicy turkey, ham, and his famous mashed potatoes. I made cranberry sauce, a really delicious stuffing with Italian sausage and swiss chard (it was a big hit, no leftover stuffing this year), and a coolwhip/jello thing from my grandma's recipes. Scott made his famous gravy and was going to make chocolate haupia pie, but when we saw all the food and desserts that were already there, he decided to save the pie making for Christmas. My mom brought her yummy sweet potatoes and a side of asparagus and Joleen made a scrumptious salad. We ate really early, at 12:30, which was great because it made for yummy snacking throughout the day. Kekoa took a 2 hour nap, which was so fantastic because I got to eat with everyone else! Kekoa isn't feeling too good right now, he actually is on anti-biotics for an ear infection, so he didn't indulge in any of the delicious food. Actually, the only kid that ate anything was Meilani. Jordan and Kaiwei were protesting Thanksgiving and Kekoa just didn't want any solid foods. He did have some of my mom's sweet potatoes the day before, so I guess that counts! Those kids just don't know what they are missing. Of course, Kaiwei was all about dessert. As soon as the pies and ice cream came out, he was right there, waiting for his bowl. There was definitely a Kaiwei meltdown when he asked for seconds and was denied anymore sweets. :)

I am bummed that we didn't get any pictures of all the kids together. There just wasn't a time to do it. :( We will definitely need to get one at Christmas.

I really love Thanksgiving. There are no presents to worry about, none of that pressure...just family coming together to share a delicious meal, to relax, and enjoy each other's company. I am so thankful to have that in my life.

All ready to go!
Yum, the juicy turkey.

We also had a visit from the Evins family...a real special treat. It was so cute to see Oriana running around with all the kids. She definitely has a great time playing while we adults chatted away! :)

Riquesha with baby Jiawei.
Kekoa was loving Ori's hair, couldn't stop staring at her barrettes!
