a great day

You know when you have one of those days that is just really great, you can't quite put your finger on why but it was all good? Well, today was one of those days (ok, last Thursday was, but I didn't have time to post this until after the weekend). I didn't figure it would be, since Kekoa woke up really early, like at 6:20 am this morning, after being up last night from midnight until 2:30 a.m.! I thought I would be tired and grumpy all day, but it just didn't turn out like that. I put Kekoa back to sleep by 7:30 and got some more rest myself. When he woke up, 30 minutes later or so (our boy just doesn't sleep), we went grocery shopping. It actually felt great to be out of the house early. We went to three different stores and Kekoa had so much fun. He loves the shopping cart and checking everything out. All the attention he gets helps too! :)
When we got home, Kekoa was ready for a snack and another nap. When he woke up (another 30 minute nap), we all walked to the park. The sun was shining so bright, another beautiful day. It was so nice to spend time with Scott before he had to go to work. I feel like on most days we are so busy in the mornings, we don't really get to do anything fun before he leaves.
Kekoa was a daredevil again and decided today would be the day that he would slide down, on his bum, all by himself. He was the cutest thing...scooting toward the edge, squeezing his eyes shut, and going for it. It is the same face he make in the pool during his swim lessons, when he jumps off the edge of the pool into the water.

Eyes closed, ready for action...
Maybe not...

Mmmm, look at my double chin!

Papa Beezy and Kaiwei also came out to visit in the late afternoon. We all went for a bike ride to the park. Kaiwei is just so cute and has become attached to his big sister, whom he fondly calls, "Jie Jie", which means big sister in chinese. He was sitting in my lap, so cuddly and enjoying any book that I read to him. The best thing was taking him to our music class. Kaiwei was the star of the class for the day. I wish I had some pictures of him dancing to Madonna. As a special tribute to Mother's Day, the music teacher played "Holiday" for all of us moms. Kekoa was belting out the lyrics along with me, as we danced. He must remember me singing Madonna to him when he was in my belly! Kaiwei was so cute dancing, moving side to side, totally grooving with the beat. It was nice too to have Kaiwei and Papa Beezy's company as they enjoyed a snack back at our place, while Kekoa ate his dinner.
I love days like this...

My first time on the slide, on my bum...
