Baptized by the Pacific Ocean

Kekoa had his first taste of the ocean, he was in heaven.

Today was record breaking high temperatures so we naturally headed to the beach. Scott had the day off which was just perfect. As we drove over Highway 17 and into Santa Cruz, the car thermometer said it was 107 degrees!!! As we got drove through Santa Cruz and neared the ocean the temperature dropped to 88 degrees, a perfect day for the beach. Kekoa was besides himself, he was so excited as we walked toward the sandy beach. He kept pointing to the birds, the huge seagulls and brown pelicans in the sky. When we laid the blanket out, he just wanted me to hold him, he needed to get used to these new surroundings. Scott gave him a red shovel to play with and then he was just fine. I took him over to see the ocean and figured he would be nervous. I was wrong. Wow, our baby really loves the ocean, isn't scared of it at all. He wanted to get down immediately so he could walk and kept gesturing to this HUGE body of water. He wanted to get in it as soon as possible. When I put him down, he grabbed my hands and was trying to run into the chilly water. I thought he would freak out when the cold ocean touched his feet, but he just wanted more and to go farther out. He got soaking wet so we brought him back up to our spot to change him into his bathing suit. This is when he started freaking out...when he had to leave the water for a minute! He was crying, screaming because he wanted to get back in the water! Kekoa had the best afternoon, even fell asleep for a few minutes on the way home.

This was one of those moments that I will always remember, Kekoa's first ocean experience. I love moments like these ones, they are really special.

Kekoa very upset to be heading away from the water to get changed into his suit!

I LOVE the beach!
I'm momtastic! This is what makes my mama's heart melt.

Kekoa's first taste of the ocean...

Daddy's turn.

I don't want to leave the water people!

12 month checkup

Kekoa had his 12 month checkup today. He was such a trooper since his appointment was when he is usually going down for a nap. He is a healthy, happy boy. He still loves going to the doctor's office, but we are wondering if the next visit he will be a little bit more weary. He is 20 pounds and 30 inches long. He got two shots before we left and did cry when he got them. :(
Everything looks perfect with our baby and he even waved good-bye to the doctor!

How cute is this?

We had a belated birthday celebration for Kekoa on Saturday with Papa Beezy, Auntie Jenny, and of course Kaiwei! We are so happy that Kaiwei is feeling better. Oh my goodness, these two boys are too cute together. Kaiwei is starting to enter the world of Terrible Two's just in time for Kekoa to take a real interest in whatever he is playing with. If Kekoa saw Kaiwei playing with the trucks, he wanted to play with them too, if Kaiwei was playing with a ball, Kekoa wanted to join him! Kaiwei was also all about his Jiejie (me). He wanted me to push him in the car and me to read him stories and me to help him walk down the stairs. I was feeling very popular between my momtastic son and my little brother, Kaiwei! :)
We had a really nice, mellow afternoon. Thank you for coming out to visit!

Kekoa's turn to push!

I love how Kaiwei brings me books to read. He just scoots back into my lap, so snuggly!

Playing with the shopping cart. I love how they are "shopping".

Two little amigos.

The Radio Flyer is so much fun! Jenny and I were laughing so hard.
