roasted cauliflower

(picture from weelicious.com)

I bought a head of cauliflower at farmer's market a couple of weeks ago, telling myself I would roast it. Scott kept telling me, "there is cauliflower in here, rotting", every time he opened up the fridge.
So tonight I finally roasted it and let me tell you, I don't know why I waited so long. It was SO yummy and the best part was Kekoa kept telling, "more mama". He was actually done eating dinner and playing with his trains. I came over to him, gave him a bite, and then he followed me into the kitchen to get more. He actually climbed back into his seat to "eat with mama". Between the two of us, we ate almost the whole head of cauliflower (it was small)!
I am ecstatic that Kekoa loves his veggies!

I borrowed the recipe from weelicious.com. I didn't use as much cheese or salt and increased the cooking temp to 425 degrees for 25 minutes. Let me just say...delicious.

are naps over?

Last week Kekoa was the champion napper...sleeping 3 plus hours some days and waking up around 4:00.
This week, napping has been a fight. Scott puts Kekoa down for his nap but 3 out of the past 4 days Kekoa has actually put himself to sleep...a first for him (yay, Kekoa) Scott goes in and tells him stories, then leaves because Kekoa keeps goofing around. We watch him in the monitor, how he fights the sleep and then zonks out.
He likes to put his Paulie bear to sleep, which then makes him fall asleep too. :)

The dilemma is bedtime. Yesterday when he didn't have a nap, Kekoa fell asleep with no problem by 7:45 and slept until 7:15 this morning! Today Kekoa had a nap and just fell asleep...it is almost 10:00! He just wouldn't fall asleep. I finally left his room at 9:30 and he just put himself to sleep...also a first. (He didn't even get off the bed to find me...shows you how tired he is) He was so tired the entire time, yawing and just fighting it. Bedtime is so frustrating!

So the question I am asking myself is, should Kekoa be skipping his nap?

birthday parties

It is official...Kekoa LOVES parties. In the past few weeks, we have gone to 4 birthday parties. All he can talk about before and afterwards is the party...let's go to the party mama, going to a party, party, party, party.
Today was Isabella's party. Kekoa decided it was good idea to not nap today and was up and ready to go to the party. He was so excited to get out the door.
We had to make a couple of stops first and he said, "no mama, party first" :)

He enjoys eating the cake, enjoys playing with all the toys, and really enjoyed all the snacks today. There was also a jumpy house which he had SO much fun in. I actually got to go in and jump with him too. He really loved that until my tummy started to feel queasy from all the jumping. When I told Kekoa I needed to get out, he was very concerned and got out with me. When we got home later, he kept telling me how "mama hurting"...it was very sweet.

He told me after he at his chocolate cake, "ready to go mama"! As we were heading out, he got the party favor, which he was ecstatic about. He carried the little box so carefully and couldn't wait to get home to open it. (I told him we needed to wait and he actually said ok!) Once he was out of the car, he couldn't wait to get up the stairs to break open the box. I wish I had taken a video of him as he opened the box to discover the treasures inside, a blue sparkly bouncy ball, playdough, crayons, and a rubby ducky that Kekoa named Sammy. It was priceless.
When I asked him what his favorite part of the party was, I figured it would be the jumpy house or eating cake, but he said, "see Isabella"...isn't that just too cute?

Kekoa had so much fun playing with all of Isabella's toys. She received this nice new kitchen for her bday!

Waiting patiently for cake.

The birthday girl! Happy birthday Isabella!

Having so much fun in the jumpy house...

playing hooky

The skies were clear, the sun shining down was so warm and toasty, there was a slight breeze....all this meant that Kekoa and I needed to get to the beach! Yes, it is the middle of November but it was one of the nicest beach days yet.
We played hooky from music class and headed to the coast. It was one of those days that I had to pinch myself, that we are so lucky to live in such a beautiful place. I love California.
Kekoa was so cute in the car, kept randomly saying...."we're going to the beach!"
We dug and dug in the sand, making and destroying sand castles. It really was a perfect beach day.
