choo choo Thomas

This red Thomas muscle shirt came off Paulie today and guess who insisted on putting it on? I told Kekoa I needed to wash it first, but it's like he knew that I was fibbing or something. I found a t-shirt to put on underneath it and on went the red muscle shirt. When I put it on him, he was all smiles, SUPER excited about his "choo choo Thomas" shirt, so excited in fact that he posed for a picture! How cute!! He even wanted to wear it to bed tonight. I had to distract him and change the subject. I have a feeling he is going to want to wear it every day! Thank you Kaiwei for the shirt! :)

I asked Kekoa if he wanted a picture with his choo choo Thomas shirt. He said "mmmm hmmmm" and posed for a photo!
He likes to look at the photos after I take them.

A little preview

Kekoa has been giving us a little preview of what life will be like when he enters the "2's", aka, the terrible twos.
He has been throwing full on tantrums, limp noodle body and everything. We are trying to figure out how to avoid the tantrums. He is starting not to like transitions, especially when he is having a really great time. So far, if you tell Kekoa he has 5 minutes left at the park or a friends house or whatever it is he is doing, he seems to be ok with the transition. Also, if he is hungry, forget it, the tantrums will happen!

Screaming is a new thing that has started the past couple of days. It is a really high pitch scream, sometimes combined with a tantrum. Today Kekoa was upset that his friend Milan was playing with a toy he wanted. He screamed and then ran into the corner, very upset. It is almost like he is putting himself on a time out. The scream is pretty brutal, ear piercing.

Running into a corner, away from the situation is a new thing too. Kekoa does this when he is very upset. Sometimes things get him upset and I'm not sure what the trigger was. He is usually ok after a few minutes, when he's let off some steam!

It is not all negative stuff. Kekoa is still the best little boy, 99.9% of the time!
Kekoa has even more patience now for stories. He has always been a great reader and loved to sit in your lap to read stories, but now the stories can be longer....not just picture books. This morning we read 4 Curious George stories and Kekoa was ready for more. At bedtime tonight, he came out to the bookshelf and looked for stories he knew he wanted, scanned the bindings of all the books like and adult does. He found the two he wanted and carried both of them to his room (they were big books too, not little board books). It was so cute. I love that he loves his books. It is such a snuggly time.

Kekoa is very good at communicating what he wants or needs. His speech is just so amazing. It is really nice to be able to ask him where something hurts or what he wants to eat and have him answer. It cuts out a lot of frustration...as long as we can understand what he wants! :) I am pretty fluent in Kekoa speak.
I also love that I can ask him to do something and he does! He helps me load up the diaper bag before we leave with a diaper, his water, milk, and snacks. It is adorable. He also loves to throw things away and still enjoys picking up his dirty clothes to put in the hamper.

No diapers? He has peed in his potty 3 times now. I can't wait until we are out of diapers!

Kekoa is still so snuggly. He'll come up to me all the time and want a hug or a kiss. It is very sweet. I love it. Just tonight, after his bath, he had both his hands on my cheeks and giving me kisses. My heart was melting for sure!

Davis for the weekend

I can hardly believe a year has gone by since we have visited the Wittkop's but it has been nearly a year! Time just flies so quickly. The last time we were in Davis, Kekoa was crawling, chasing Gigi the white, fluffy Persian kitty. This time, Kekoa was walking, chasing Gigi. He would find her and say "sleeping", then proceed to try and pet her. She got annoyed once (Kekoa wasn't being so gentle) and swatted at Kekoa's hand. His feeling were so hurt, he came running to me with this face that is just so precious. Then he couldn't stop saying, "mau mi zssss" (Kitty made a hissing sound at me).

We had a very nice time...not really relaxing by the pool this time since it was raining on and off all day! Crazy June weather. We made great time driving up there, a little preview of what our road trip up to Oregon will be like in July. Kekoa was a real trooper, didn't even need a break the whole 2 hours up there!

We ate yummy food, had yummy drinks, it was nice to be away. Kekoa is in love with the "big kids". He couldn't get enough of them, holding their hands and having them read him stories. He was LOVING all the extra attention and it was so wonderful to have so many helpers.

Thanks for a fabulous visit! We will see you soon!

This big bear was such a hit. Kekoa just loved it, first thing in the morning he wanted to go see the "da xiong xiong" (big bear).

Looking at ants with Kyle...

This was the cutest, Cole and Kekoa holding hands all the way down the street!

Come on Ava, let's go to the park!

Kekoa loves the swings so much...especially loves going super high!

Little animal friends

Tonight during dinner, I looked up and Kekoa had lined up his little animals, with their little booties facing him. He was fascinated by their different tails. It was quite adorable.

My little model

This afternoon, Kekoa and I ended up at the high school, to play on the lush, green lawn. Kekoa loves it here, the perfect place to kick his mini soccer ball around. He also did a few modeling poses for me :)
I think he is a natural! Thank you Kekoa!

Show me the bubbles mama!
