I heart my mom

How cute is Kekoa's belly in his new shirt? This is so appropriate for Kekoa right now, he is super momtastic, loving his mama so much. All the moms that have sons tell me the mama love is pretty intense and they weren't kidding. At swim lessons, he gets anxious if I'm not holding him...quite a change from before. At library story time, Kekoa's favorite spot is my lap. During music, the last couple of weeks, his favorite spot has also been in my lap or in my arms. He hasn't really wanted to wander around, always making sure mama is close! I love my little monkey just as much and am enjoying all this mama love.

Who's the cutest monkey?

Kekoa is!! I washed his Halloween monkey costume so it was sitting out, waiting to be put away. Kekoa saw it and brought it over to Scott to put on. He loves his monkey outfit! He was cruising all around in it, it was adorable, watching the little tail waddle back and forth. Then, Kekoa spotted himself in the mirror! It was the first time he saw himself with the monkey suit on, he started talking to himself, making animal noises and dancing. He also discovered he had monkey ears, which he started pulling on. It is the cutest thing ever! I have a feeling that Kekoa will be sporting his monkey suit until it gets to small to wear.

slow down

Life is speeding by, going way too fast. Each day begins and ends in a blur unless I take the time to slow down. Kekoa actually is a huge help in slowing down. Anytime we take a walk together, we don't get very far, but I see all kinds of things I would have never even noticed. He makes me slow down and enjoy all the little details, like the huge rock he found or becoming completely entranced with the sound and sight of leaves blowing across the carport. I love watching his face as he discovers the season of fall. This morning, we took a walk and he got to explore. He was so excited about everything, the clouds, the wind, the orange, wet leaves that had fallen in a pile on the soggy ground, of course rocks, the little black dog that scurried across the street with its owner, touching the scratchy bark on the tree and then giving it a hug, getting his hands muddy, and splashing in puddles left over from yesterdays rain. It was the perfect, slow way to start our day.

A little stretch before we head outside...

Puddles, so much fun!

Wow, the wind blowing the leaves is the most amazing thing!

Oh wow, look at the trees!

A tree hugger....
and kisser too!

I don't want to go in mama (Kekoa throwing a tantrum)

Fall on our street...

Pilates baby

Every morning, after I roll out of bed, I do about 5 minutes of Pilates exercises to warm up my spine for the day. One of the exercises is "pike" or as it is called in yoga, "downward dog". Now the cutest thing has happened, after watching me all these mornings, Kekoa has now started copying me! When we were at the beach he decided it was a good time to practice the pose and got all kinds of sand in his hair! :) This morning while I was stretching, Scott told Kekoa to do downward dog and he did! My little Pilates baby!

A visit from Auntie Tessa

October 30

It was so great to see Tessa. We used to work together as 5th grade teachers and she comes to visit whenever she can. Kekoa REALLY warmed up to her. He was bringing her all his toys and even chose her lap over mine for a story!! :)
When I was feeding him lunch, he was completely showing off, he knew he had an audience! We can't wait to see you again!

Just up from my nap...not warmed up yet!
Please read me a story!
