Cross another thing off the summer bucket list...take Kekoa to the movies for the first time.
We had our sitter come and watch Malia while the 3 of us headed to the movie theater. Kekoa was very excited about it. We went to see Monsters University. I'm pretty sure that Scott and I enjoyed the movie a little bit more that Kekoa did. :)
He did like the movie but was a little freaked out about the theatre being so dark. He looked so cute and small in the theatre seat. I'm not sure about the movies anymore...I mean, come on, is 30 minutes of previews really necessary? It was special though to have some time with just Kekoa. And much to our delight, all evening he was practicing his "scares" so he can work on a scare floor, like Mike and Sully.

14 months
My dear baby girl,
What can I say? You are the cutest, yummiest, little girl around! We just love you to pieces. You are growing and changing so fast I can't even keep up with it all.
You really think you are a big girl and can do things like your brother, then when you can't, you get super frustrated.
I only jotted down a few things going on with you this past month...
-molars coming in
-taking 3 steps on the 4th of july
-taking off the diaper...this should be fun as you get older.
-eating big pieces of food, prefers it to food being cut up
-becoming more snuggly, you will sit in my lap now for longer, I love it when you bring books to me and scoots into my lap
I am predicting that you will be walking any day now. You seem like you are getting closer and closer to it.
I love you big girl!
love,
your mama

The summer of growing up
Dear Kekoa,
I really can't believe how much you have grown up this summer. I mean really, you started off the summer my little boy, attached to my side and now you are this fearless boy, who is so brave and is ready for anything new.
Today, at your friend's birthday party, you told me you wanted to go play on the playground, then told me that you didn't want me to come with you!! This was a first and I must say, it stung just a little bit....but it is also great how much you are growing up.
Some of the amazing things you are doing on your own now...
-dressing yourself, this is a biggie. Many mornings you still want me to dress you, but you can do it and love showing me how you put your clothes on
-putting on your own socks
-brushing your own teeth and doing a pretty descent job
-getting your own bowl, spoon, milk, and cereal for breakfast. You are practicing pouring yourself the cereal and sometimes the milk.
-going pee on the big toilet, standing up. We never thought you would give up your little blue toilet.
-getting the stool when you need to reach something high up, like a light switch.
-opening up the cabinet and taking what you want out for a snack
-able to open some of the smoothie packets
-fold your clothes...love watching you do this, you "shake" the shirt or pants and then gently place them on your bed as you fold.
-put your clothes away
-write some letters and attempt to write your name
I know I am forgetting some things and of course this is such a short list of all the things you can do. You are a pretty amazing kiddo.
Love,
your mama

You have gone to summer camp, for two weeks, and it has been the best thing for you. You are so confident, willing to try new things. This summer at the park, you are unstoppable, I mean I watch you in complete awe as you climb and jump off of things.

sack race
We went to a birthday party today. One of the fun activities was a sack race. Kekoa was hesitant to try it at first, but after watching some kids jumping around, he thought he would give it a go. The sack race for 4 year olds is just taking turns jumping around int he sack...pretty cute!
