Malia eats avocado!

Malia had her first experience today with solids.  She has been so interested when we are eating, staring longingly at our food.

I started her with avocado, just like Kekoa. It was hilarious watching her eat.  She finished it all up and then wanted to eat the spoon.

Kekoa feeding himself pesto pasta.

Yum, this bib is delicious.

Here it comes, the first bite.

It looks like she doesn't like it, but she actually loved it!

For dessert, I will have the spoon please.

baby library time

This morning was girl time.  My baby girl and I headed to the library for baby story time.  I have been wanting to do this with her for awhile and it just worked out today.  I love that we were able to walk over too.

Malia absolutely loved it.  She was so observant, was all smiles during the songs and checking out all the other babies.  I can't wait to take her again.

Two Hammerheads

Meet Hammie, the hammerhead shark and newest member of our growing stuffed animal family.  Baby sister picked it out for Kekoa today at the aquarium and he hasn't let it out of his sight.
With these goggles on, Kekoa looks like a hammerhead too. :)

evening walk

After dinner, Kekoa and I bundled up and went walking.  We had a mission, to find the Santa in the hot air balloon.  The bright moon led the way.  Kekoa looked so adorable, in his big puffy jacket, carrying Hammie, the hammerhead shark...I just wanted to eat him up.  He was so cute on our walk too.

We didn't find the Santa in the hot air balloon, but did find Santa in the helicopter and many Christmas lights!  Hot air balloon Santa was sleeping, but there are 29 more days until Christmas...I am sure we will find him!

Monterey

It had been too long, we were all itching to go, especially our budding marine biologist, so we headed to the Monterey Bay Aquarium today.  It was a gorgeous day, bright blue skies with the crisp cool fall air.
When we arrived, Malia needed to nurse, so we headed to the big kelp forest tank.  As I sat on the bench, nursing my little girl, gazing at the giant kelp and fish, and also watching Kekoa interacting with Scott, I had this peace wash over me and I felt so happy in that moment.  It was a lovely day.

The jellies are always a big hit.  I'm pretty sure they were Malia's favorite.

At the giant open ocean tank.

Look mommy, a hammerhead.

I snapped this picture of Kekoa just as the shark cruised past.

Kekoa insisted on taking a picture inside the clam.

This play area was perfect.  Kekoa found a giant stuffed "Sarge" fish from Nemo and had a really good time playing with it.

Kekoa couldn't stop staring at all the "Nemo" fish in this tank.

There is Dori right there.

Ready to go home now.
